Still Waters Posted March 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2018 A nine-month-old dog that weighs 12 stone (180lb) and stands six-foot-tall (1.8m) may be the world's biggest puppy. Enormous Euphrates was bred to replicate a prehistoric canine species and eats an impressive eight cups of dog food a day. Owner Jared Howser, 41, of Salt Lake City, Utah, said onlookers often confuse his puppy for a fully-grown adult. He said: 'At nine months there simply isn't another dog 180lbs and 31.5 inches to withers anywhere else in the world, she is an anomaly. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-5509831/Worlds-biggest-puppy-weighs-12-stone-stands-six-feet-tall.html
+susieice Posted March 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2018 That's one big dog! She'd never fit in my apartment! I had a friend that had an English Mastiff. Didn't realize the dog came from such an ancient breed. An animal that size needs room and a special kind of owner. Good thing her personality is to be gentle.
Piney Posted March 17, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2018 I think they are exaggerating the dogs height and weight. The picture and video was taken from a angle to make it look bigger. It's also full grown and has a adult coat. They also were not used in Mesopotamia. This looks like Mormon propaganda because of the location of the breeder and the fact that if was falsely noted to come from that particular area of the Middle East where Moroni, their made up founder came from. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molossus_(dog)

That said, dog breeders have railed against creating this breed because it will be prone to many needless ills (yeast infections from the skin folds, poor ability to withstand heat, etc.) http://pedigreedogsexposed.blogspot.com/2016/04/the-american-molossus.html I did hunt around to see what the original breed might have been. The picture at this link does look like something I vaguely associate with the Romans, but not with other cultures: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cane_da_presa

This knucklehead next to my stepsister, who lives in a small college town with postage stamps for yards has 2 Great Pyrenees. I actually told him what a ass I thought he was for owning a large working dog with such a small house and yard. I won't own a cat because I think my 40 ft camper is too small. It's not fair to the animals themselves
Piney Posted March 17, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 17, 2018 @Kenemet Here's another link saying the backstory for this unhealthy thing is "malarkey". https://greatdanegnosis.wordpress.com/2016/03/24/the-great-dane-and-the-molosser-malarkey/
