How a blind artist visualises colours

For centuries, people who were born blind have been the intellectual curios of philosophers studying consciousness. This is particularly true for those exploring the way our consciousness is effected by our bodies, especially our eyes, which Leonardo da Vinci described as the “window of the soul”.

One interesting fallacy is the belief that people born blind have no real idea of colour.

This reminds me in a way of synesthesia. Different senses can become cross wired, or as in this case, can be developed to be cross wired.

He is using his sense of touch as a replacement for the missing visual data. It has been shown that the brain is so adaptable that we can even program it with new senses from new data streams. Would you like to see the world in every spectrum of light? We'll soon be doing that.

Our understanding of what 'perception' means is about to be shaken to the core.

The way he paints colors reminds me of a deck of Kreskin ESP cards in the 60's.

The deck had a one color dot on each card and you tried to guess what it was ......by the feeling of coolness or warmth!
