The record that changed the world.

Since you posted that it is playing on an eternal loop in my head.

Me too.  When I was nine (1973) I stole my mothers record collection and have very vivid memories of singing along with Elvis in the mirror in my bedroom.

^ As I was reading this it's still playing! ;)

I was still wet behind the ears when Elvis just got started. My 2 older sisters would wear out every 45rpm record they could get their hands on. Love me tender would make my teen sisters swoon.

Hound dog made ripples in the space/time continuum that echo today.

As for me, Mrs ZZ says that when I Karaoke Blue Christmas my bass/baritone voice sounds "just like him"

I still prefer the early Mono recordings for the Sun Years catalogue though ... the remastered versions of the 70s stuff brought out the real magic in his later years though ...

I'd always said to my friends that Elvis wasn't just voice, he had that honesty that comes right through with the melodies, and here is Elvis at his most honest moments as I remember him ...

I read somewhere about Elvis recording 'Hound Dog'. It took 29 takes before Elvis was satisfied. In the past the drums were recorded way in the background, but Elvis wanted the drums up front, a real innovation. It was a revelation to other recording musicians. From then on everyone recorded the drums so they could be heard as part of the music.

More or less, but since I was playing them on a little kids record player with a crappy little needle and was not well versed in album handling the best ones were a little worse for wear.
