Gromdor Posted April 22, 2018 #76 Share Posted April 22, 2018 A right is a right, good or bad. What we are seeing here is the downside of free speech, but it is still free speech. Heckling and name calling, though distasteful, is still free speech and thus protected. Heck, look at our favorite example of unethical behavior- President Trump. He constantly name calls and leads heckling chants like "lock her up" and "so sad" both on a podium and on social media. And let's face it, it works. The original message of whoever he is detracted from gets buried under the attention of the insults. Everyone remembers something like say, "little Marco" but no one remembers what it was that Marco Rubio was saying. The same in this case. Everyone is remembering the hecklers but even UM posters are struggling and had to research to find out about the actual speaker and his message.
skliss Posted April 22, 2018 #77 Share Posted April 22, 2018 (edited) Heckling and name calling is one thing, I'm not a fan of that, but deliberately and consciously acting in such a way that an opinion contrary to yours cannot be heard is something altogether different. Did America's Donald Trump (or his lackeys) gatecrash his rival's rallies and heckle her, then?

Yes, of course. They always do on both sides. Here's Obama even defending a Trump supporter for doing it: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/obama-defends-trump-supporter-heckling-him-rally-944319 But that's a bit beside my original point. Trump himself does it because, though distasteful and juvenile, it works and is protected by our constitution. His supporters heckling is just an added bonus.

Of course they did Vlad. Where did you think all those people at her rallies came from ?
