Still Waters Posted April 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2018 A researcher snapped a photo of a rare shark species that has not been seen in a decade at a fish market in Mumbai, India. The Ganges shark (Glyphis gangeticus) is an endangered shark species that thrives in freshwater habitats. The river shark inhabits the rivers of Bangladesh and India, particularly Ganges River and Brahmaputra River. The Ganges shark is a Critically Endangered species. In fact, it is in the Red List of Threatened Species of the International Union for Conservation of Nature. It is also among the top 20 most threatened shark species. http://www.techtimes.com/articles/225842/20180421/rare-river-shark-species-not-seen-in-a-decade-found-on-sale-in-a-fish-market.htm
khol Posted April 22, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2018 (edited) Its hard to put into words sometimes https://blog.nationalgeographic.org/2013/03/01/100-million-sharks-killed-every-year-study-shows-on-eve-of-international-conference-on-shark-protection/ but I suppose its a combination of people not being educated or just not caring about our wildlife. Its ironic that humans have an automatic responsibility as guardians of our planet and its inhabitants and at the same time are its worst offenders Edited April 22, 2018 by khol
