Only 500 satellites for 510072000 sq kilometers? That's 1 020 144 sq km for a single satellite (not counting the overlaps needed for the seamless picture), which gives 20 402.88 sq meters or 143x143 meters for a single pixel of the 50 megapixel sensor. Even with the incredible 200 megapixel sensor it's 36x36 meters for a single pixel (I don't say anything about the lens glass quality needed for such a big sensor and the digital aliasing), this is far too low to discern a car, not to mention a person. This is no Big Brother in any way. We don't have a technology for that yet.

LOL I was trying to think up an appropriate response to this but I think you nailed it. What kind of a world are we headed towards? When you add up global online and video surveillance, "hate speech" laws, DARPA's robots and a large chunk of the population that want to live under Socialism what do you get?

Spoiler

Dystopia.

We were born in the same year.

I just have no desire to last longer than 20 more years.

As for ZZ, you must have some serious genes for longevity in your family!

Wow, that's very impressive, good for him. Sadly, your uncle is more the exception than the rule. Most folks don't have a good quality of life in their 80's, only a few are so lucky.

What happens when you have criminals seeing where the police are in real time, the cartels seeing where the Border Patrol is and more importantly isn't, pedophiles watching our kids in school in real time, terrorists watching Allied troop movements in real time etc...

There is simply no way they can allow the general public to view the earth in real time as they are claiming, this is something far more nefarious being masked as something innocent.

I really feel sorry for you Lilly. There's always a reason to live even waiting in a death row. I suggest you rebooting your life a little bit: moving to another place and changing the people you think are your friends but in fact only doing you harm. And, by the way, stop watching TV and reading news. That's the first and foremost.

I think people are misunderstanding what the plan actually is. Yes, they spoke about Big Brother but i think the actual plan is, to view the Earth as it is in the picture. From a distance, not close up so you can see cars, houses, people, crimes being commited etc etc. It won't surprise me if there are some satellites up there that can do that now that are private. Anyway, i think it is my understanding that they want to view the Earth from a distance, not close up. And anyway, it won't be live or real-time either. It will have a 30 second (at least) delay......so they can switch it off when aliens zoom past :)

I don't buy it, major investors invest for profit , they are not going to invest that kind of money for useless view of the earth, public Joe may get that kind of view but I bet they and government agencies will get a zoomed in detailed view, complete with night vision and thermal imaging.

Yeah it said something about making us all virtual astronauts.

The idea is to see how beautiful Earth is so we don't muck it up any more than we already have.

Don't get me wrong...they probably already have what people are worried about up and running.

That's just not this thing.
