You're missing the point

Paying those already in he field to train up and comers is cheaper and more efficient.

No need for worthless paper

I’m rather proud of my worthless pieces of paper. They’re signs I dedicated myself to something and achieved it. I’m also a cheap b****** and if I can con the government into paying for them all the better.

I keep my brain in a jar on my desk, what does that qualify me to know?

No not everyone does. I did go to tech school for one thing and it didn’t pan out to well afterwards. I ended up working with a contractor doing construction, didn’t take things for granted, ended up partnering with him and have been running a business together for over ten years now. With some connections and a little luck I’ve done fairly well. I’m not touting my horn or even saying that I’m the best. Honestly I probably should be doing even better by now but I can’t complain. Just saying school meant nothing for me in the long run and not everybody needs it. Common sense and a little perseverance can go far.

100% agree with this! :tu:

I can't tell you how many college students i've talked to at the gym who complain about having to go back to school to get a different degree because their 1st was absolutely worthless in the real world!

High school guidance counselors and politicized college campuses have convinced many naive people that a college education equals being a wannabe politician...

Time to really start pushing trade schools again and on the job training!

I've recently started helping a friend of mine with his construction business after one of his best workers got in a car wreck...i've just been helping him on weekends as a 2nd job when i have time,my schooling in carpentry, welding, concrete work, ect. came from helping my grandfather build stuff through the years and he was ALWAYS building stuff lol

Think i might start a thread on construction and what's everyones favorite tools...i've seen fist fights almost break out on the job sites over people arguing which brands are the best

Sup man, haven’t seen you all year. Look like we were cut from similar cloths. Start that thread. I’ve kind of always wanted to also but it’s your ball now. Next to tools the real most heated  debate is preference of drywall tape. I’d love to have this conversation.

Anyone who has taken basic economics knows the idea of giving everyone jobs and/or guaranteed income isn't going to work...not for very long anyway.

How dare you sir? Joking aside haven't heard of Husqvarna. Is that the chainsaw you use for your carvings?

I like craftsman cause my dad got me a basic 3/8" & 1/4" set when I was 16ish. Treated them like crap, left out in rain multiple times and used giant cheater bars. They still work like new and I use them just about every day.

I'm also a fan of Makita. My dad has a cordless Makita older than I am and he still uses it damn near everyday. Great tool, doesn't quit.

I have the hand tools but when someone brings me a chainsaw to fix I throw it under the wheel of the 644 and their power tools won't last me a month. I have Dewalts and my electric saws are Milwaukee

Stihls are what I used for little stuff, but my big saws are a Husky and a Jonsered ( Which is the same company)

Why are you using chainsaws for your carvings??? That's cheating!!! To be authentic you should only be using traditional tools!!! LoL

That's why I won't bother much more posting in this political section.

Getting sick and tired of listening to people chastising the poor and disadvantaged.

The conservatives in Tennessee have already approved two years of free college.

Once unthinkable, tuition-free college has become a reality.

Four states and one city have enacted measures in the past three years. And lawmakers in several other places across the country are considering similar programs.

More than 30,000 Tennesseans and 7,000 Oregonians have gone to community college tuition free already. Students in New York and San Francisco are set to start on the same path this fall. And it's picking up steam, with lawmakers in several other places across the country considering similar programs.

The one in Oregon is hardly free. The student still have to pay for housing and other costs (books?), which often is much more then 50% of the cost. Though I suppose since it is community college, the students can just stay at home. Obama says young people are kids till they are 26 right?

Apparently in Oregon you just have to put in the paperwork and meet the requirements. (Such as being Poor).

https://oregonstudentaid.gov/oregon-promise.aspx

Basically it is just a State sponsored need scholarship. And it wasn't funded in 2017 apparently....

Don't let em get you down. The exchange of ideas is good and healthy for all parties involved, even if it appears to be falling on deaf ears.

(now i'm following my own advice and diving back into the paranormal/cryptozoological forums)
