Come on now. That is so unnecessary. Now first responders gotta come rescue lieutenant dan from that lava battle field. Risking their lives to save this brochacho.

All's well that ends well and Pele exacted a painful price for his temerity.

The eruptions continue as more fissures begin spewing lava again.  Don't know why first link is blocked. The second link works. No end is in sight.

Why are all these sites blocked?

This link from the USGS is from Friday. It also reports that earthquake activity has again begun to increase.

Darn near is sounding like that specific big island is going to be a very, very bad boy.

Nature must take its course, I guess.

Curious with what will transpire before it "relaxes"

People are being trapped in areas they refused to leave. Authorities plan to airlift some. They will be charged for not obeying evacuation orders. No one knows just how bad this is going to get or how soon.

Nature sure is taking her time! She has plenty of it. We humans will just have to adapt.

Hawaii news reports the lava flows are spreading and have totally evaporated Green Lake, the largest freshwater lake on the island.

It's also reached a main power plant. Officials say the power plant will be gone in a few days.

My Brother is still planning on going there and says the island is only part dangerous .  I keep saying what if the other side gets some big blows from the volcano and starts  going the other way

Travel to the big island of Hawaii has been seriously disrupted. Cruise ships are not going into the harbors and planes are were being re-routed because of the ash plumes.

It seems some flights are going but they are very under booked. Cruise lines are staying clear.

A 5.5 earthquake hit the summit of Mt Kilauea yesterday. (Sunday) A total of 500 quakes were felt in the region over the weekend. Wondering just how bad this is going to get. This eruption has lasted longer than the ones in 1924 or 1955.

Just take care Myles. Now tourists are being arrested for getting too close and taking selfies.

Just saw this and chuckled... people down here do this with incoming hurricanes all the time!  They risk the lives of first responders when they suddenly realize, oops... this might be dangerous... dope..

Soon they will be in the market for allot of soil.

I wonder what the modern practice is for making newly formed land usable.   Maybe grate it and cover with 12" of topsoil?
