Came across this in an article about a faulty speed radar and ticket (fine was amended in court)

"...the world's fastest production car is the $2 million Koenegsegg Agera RS that hit 278 mph on a Nevada highway last year."

Yep, 145 in 2nd gear says a lot. ;)

When those turbos spool up it's incredible, love that. :tu:

I must have miss read that nearly 300 miles per hour that's incredible. Is it road legal?

Road legal? Good question. Probably is if driven at posted speed limits, but of course not at those speeds excepting a legal "closed track" of road as in this case... permits, police, etc.

But I don't know. It says "production", but that doesn't necessarily mean it's road legal, per se.

Good question. Anybody know?

Good question.

The new Koenigsegg Agera RS has its focus set firmly on the track but is still perfect for regular use on the road.

25 examples will be built.Agera_RS_side_email.jpg

God, what a beautiful profile of a car, not to mention it's engine.

Electrical cars will be able to go faster than this soon enough.

One thing I noticed about this awesome car doing its runs in the above vid on a closed public highway... very, very little vibration!

Of course, maybe the professional driver might say differently, but just judging from little camera shake and no unusual sounds.... Sweet ride!

Top notch suspension and everything!

The Hennessy Venom is actually even faster it's tracked at 301 mph.

After that car, it's impossible to follow, but in the year 2000,after working on this 67 Camaro for 2 years, it hit the highway. 160 MPH

Nice. But is that "production street legal" I  wonder.

The GT is, no reason why the up and coming F5 won't be. It's actually claimed it will go up to 318 mph. It's due for release next year.

So this guy is driving an Agera RS and it took him 39 seconds to accelerate it from 0 to 200km/h? Hell, what a moron!
