danydandan Posted May 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2018 Seeing as the FIFA World Cup 2018 is nearly a month away, would the UM universe like to make predictions. Maybe we can get a point system going. Three points per correct prediction. 1.Winner. 2.Runner-up. 3.Top Goal Scorer. 4.Most Assists. 5.Best Defense. 6.Highest Scoring Team. My predictions are as follows, 1.Argentina, 2.Germany, 3.Messi, 4.Ozil, 5.Germany and 6.Argentina. http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/ Maybe some psychics can make predictions too?

LV-426 Posted May 21, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 21, 2018 Ohh, I don't know... it's a lottery! Let's go with... 1. Germany 2. Argentina 3. Antoine Griezmann - I should say Harry Kane, but we all know how England perform on the big stage these days... 4. Kevin De Bruyne - Utter class, but depends how far Belgium progress. 5. Germany 6. France - outside bet as I don't want to type Germany or Argentina again

Also if he wins a World Cup it will end the pointless debate of who is the better player between him and Crapaldo. Also I'm a big Barce fan so I'm extremely bias. The only problem I see is that their key players looks a bit ragged on the tail end of the EPL Let's see if they can recover in time. ~ 47 minutes ago, danydandan said: I just hope Argentina win so Messi wins the ballon d'or. Much as I admire the maestro, Messi presently lacks that self belief ... I dunno, if the team plays for him instead of expecting him to carry them, maybe ... maybe Argentina has a good run at it ... ~ If we're going to lean on the side of predictions, I'm going for some dark horses to go all the way ... I'm liking a semi final of two African teams and Two South American giants going at it ... with only Belgium looking like the likely spoilers to my setup. ~

Yeah, to be fair it's the first time they haven't qualified since 1958, and they'd usually be top of the list for defensive tactics
SHaYap Posted May 22, 2018 #11 Share Posted May 22, 2018 The bigger picture is simply the experience teams are on the old and aged side while the green horns are the younger and fitter sides, a real recipe for over turning the form books. Myles Posted June 4, 2018 #13 Share Posted June 4, 2018 I will tune into some of it. The USA not being in it kind of ruins it a little for me. I need to find an "underdog" of sorts to root for.

LucidElement Posted June 7, 2018 #15 Share Posted June 7, 2018 If you go on this Link , https://bracketchallenge.fifa.com/ ,.... you can sign up, and choose your own bracket and once you choose your own private you’re eligible to start, create, your own league with all your friends. But once you submit your bracket you’re locked in and you can edit it. And I think they do that because they have grand prizes as a whole for trip to Madrid etc. Anyways I have France winning it all. I think I might have screwed up group H by not taking Poland as a runner up. I took Colombia to win and Nigeria as a runner up.

Ive always loved soccer, was even invited to play with the U15 national squad once upon a time. Moving to AK pretty much killed all that , anyways, until recently the damn sport has been almost impossible to follow here in the US. Well I guess MLS is a thing but man the talent level there makes it hard to watch This last year though ive gotten to follow the Bundesliga and damn I had forgotten how nice a fat ass bowl of goodness goes with the ebb and flow of a soccer match!

Honestly though if you're near a TV turn on fox, Ronaldo is about to play in his final world cup. Watching him play is at times spiritual, akin to watching Barry Sanders or Sweet Pea in their prime.
