Still Waters Posted May 24, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2018 Motherhood is often considered to be one of the most selfless missions a person can embark on. Those who endure it have to put their bodies through hell (both mentally and physically), dedicate decades of time and money to ensuring their child has a good life, and - more often than not - face the prospect of never getting so much as a "thanks" for all their efforts. However, not all expectant mothers are treated the same. Women who are considered too young to be starting a family are often met with disapproval from people who don't think they're fit for the job - but so too are women that are considered to be too old. http://vt.co/news/world/this-pregnant-70-year-old-woman-will-reportedly-become-the-oldest-mother-ever/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5753051/70-year-old-claims-PREGNANT-worlds-oldest-mother-gives-birth.html 3

Lilly Posted May 24, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 24, 2018 IMO someone had to give this woman hormonal treatment in order for this to happen...I smell something fishy here. 3 1

paperdyer Posted May 25, 2018 #12 Share Posted May 25, 2018 Does that "equipment" still work at her age? After menopause, can it? I'm waiting for all of religious zealots to have pilgrimages to her home to view the miracle of the 2nd coming.
Grandpa Greenman Posted May 25, 2018 #13 Share Posted May 25, 2018 It is not unheard of for a women to become pregnant after menopause. Chances of going full term and a getting healthy baby goes down, but it sounds like she is getting good medical care. Hoping for the best for her and baby.
Still Waters Posted May 25, 2018 Author #14 Share Posted May 25, 2018 She's had 7 children already. Considering her age it's a wonder she wanted another but she appears to be quite happy about being pregnant. I just hope all goes well for her and her baby girl, that's all that matters now.

spartan max2 Posted May 25, 2018 #17 Share Posted May 25, 2018 (edited) This will probably sound mean but idc. If this pregnancy was on purpose then she is being horribly selfish. The health risk for the baby plus the fact that you might not live long enough to even raise the kid fully is so unfair to this person being brought into existence. You are not satisfied enough with the other seven so you have to force something else into existence and say hell to the consequences Edited May 25, 2018 by spartan max2

I'm no doctor, but I've read that "late-in-life" pregnancy (50+) can have extreme negative impact on the developing fetus due to age-related chromosomal damage in the mothers egg. This also applies, apparently, to the males sperm in advanced age.

Something (I suspect IVF) along with hormonal therapy would have to have been used.
pallidin Posted May 25, 2018 #21 Share Posted May 25, 2018 (edited) Xeno, fess-up. Child support can be brutal, ya know, so I do understand your hesitation. But man-up! Your other option is to marry her. Yeah, that will help finacially. Do it. And PLEASE don't ask for me to be Best Man.
