aztek Posted May 26, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2018 President Trump on Friday signed three executive orders overhauling the federal bureaucracy, including an order that makes it easier to fire federal workers for misconduct. “To empower our civil servants to best help others, the government must always operate more efficiently and more securely,” the president said in a statement. The first executive order aims to strengthen accountability for federal employees and makes it easier to fire poor performers in the federal government. The second executive order creates a federal labor relations working group to analyze union contracts with the federal government. It also makes it harder to pay federal unions to appeal firings and to lobby Congress. The third executive order, focused on federal unions, is aimed at reducing waste and expenditures and requires federal employees to spend at least 75 percent of their time working on the job they were hired to do, as opposed to working on federal union work. It will also allow the federal government to start charging unions for office space in federal buildings. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/05/25/trump-makes-it-easier-to-fire-poor-performing-federal-workers.html

acidhead Posted May 26, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2018 (edited) Unions and contractors in general take full advantage of government contracts. A bridge here in Victoria, BC was just completed.... It spanned 300 feet and was estimated at $35 million. The cost estimated to refurbish the original bridge was $30 million. $100 million dollars later it opened last month... Ten yrs after construction began. A freaking bridge you could toss a rock across!!! Edited May 26, 2018 by acidhead

Agent0range Posted May 26, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 26, 2018 The problem is, in the Federal workplace, you are rated by one single person. If that person doesn't like you, you get a bad rating. Period. There is no disputing it. It has always been easy to fire federal employees with a paper trail of bad work and misconduct. This just makes it easier to eliminate positions off of one persons word.

Gromdor Posted May 26, 2018 #9 Share Posted May 26, 2018 The rank and file guys don't bother me as much as the ineptness of the higher echelons/elected officials. I mean is it really that much to ask for a basic understanding of math/science and the ability to use/speak proper English grammar?

In the private sector.... Nothing. Sure it can be individual related... But Just curious... Do you have an axe to grind? Let it go. You don't need them.
Space Commander Travis Posted May 26, 2018 #11 Share Posted May 26, 2018 (edited) Well,he's certainly proving his commitment by starting with his own administration isn't he. I read somewhere that the average life expectancy for someone in the White House Inner Circle is about three months. I think the Emperor Caligula's senior cabinet had more job security - and more of a grasp on reality.
