Nice to get the full story. Some websites are implying it was the rocket engine that melted the camera and say nothing about a grass fire. Looking for link clicks.

Bill Ingalls is a hugely experienced and brilliant photographer of space launches. To even imply that he would be so unprofessional as to place a camera close enough to a launching vehicle so as to destroy the camera is, quite frankly, an insult to him.
