Donald Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Donald Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by two Norwegian politicians after his historic meeting with Kim Jong Un.

Christian Tybring-Gjedde, an MP, and former justice minister Per-Willy Amundsen said Mr Trump "had taken a huge and important step in the direction of the disarmament, peace and reconciliation between North and South Korea".

Both men are politicians with the anti-establishment Progress Party.

A group of US Republican politicians nominated Mr Trump for the prize in May.

* blows a raspberry * But nothing concrete has been done! Any fool can come up with fine words whilst basking in the world's spotlight and basically having a luxury holiday. NO country is EVER going to give up their nuclear capability ..... whatever public statement they make.

Obama won one for doing absolutely nothing so why shouldn't Trump for actually doing something, even if it is just talk?

Noble Peace Prize is a joke award anyway nowadays. Kinda like being Time's Man of the Year.

Please don't. After listening to conservatives' incessant whining about how the Nobel means nothing anymore, going back to Arafat,   it will be entirely too precious to have them proclaim the greatness of the award and how getting the award proves how great Trump is :D

Surely the only proper thing to do is add another to Mount Rushmore with his beaming little face.

So basically we are turning the Nobel Peace prize into a participation trophy and wanting to give Trump one?

Yeah Obama set that bar pretty low, atleast Trump is trying to do something that would make one deserving of its intentions...

"When they went low,Trump went and tried"

Edited again...if Trump does win it,he can't have my sweet slogan and neither can any of you!...i will have it trademarked :P

This. The irony is that Obama got his prize for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples".

Strengthen cooperation between peoples? Like North and South Korea? Crimson is right - Obama set the bar for butt-kissing so low Trump actually deserves the prize, according to the new qualifications.

He's making enemies of our allies, meeting with one of the largest human rights violators in modern day history to discuss anything but human rights, and cozying up to Russia...why wouldn't he get a Nobel Peace Prize?

While Trump might have some role in strengthening cooperation between North and South Korea (let's not forget they organised their own meeting before his), I think his approach to allies more than balances that out. You can hardly claim his America First approach is strengthening cooperation.

Neither was Obama's "America last". The EU can't even keep relations straight between themselves so it doesn't seem to me that Trump is helping or hurting matters. Undermine his advancements with the Korea's if you want but remember that they have had many meetings and many talks over the years. It only counts when they make actual progress.

I think as far as his policies about stopping the bleeding of money from our country....yeah, they aren't gonna like it at first, but I believe he's playing the long game there. And people can pooh/pooh all they want, but without him this historic meeting and chance for peace after 75 years would not have come about. That being said, I lost respect for the Nobel committee when they nominated and then gave Obama the prize over something like 200 other nominees...surely one of them were more deserving.

Don't have to add one. Just replace the slave owning Washington or Jefferson.

Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and South Africa all have voluntarily denuclearized after having nuclear weapons.

He did nothing other than lower the US's standards of what it  takes to get a seat at the table (rightly or wrongly) . Several POTUS' before him had that same opportunity but chose not to take it.

Now it could be that his lowering of standards works out in our best interests but thus far the jury is definitely still out on whether this was stroke of genius or ignorance IMO .

Ukraine didnt have much of a choice, if they didnt denuclearized they risked losing recognition from the west along with having sanctions put of them and to top it off the nukes were near useless for defense against Russia as they were on missiles that had ranges of 5,000 to 10,000 km meaning they would only be effective at striking the Russian far east while the air launched cruise missiles were disabled by the Russian military as they left Ukraine and its questionable if Ukraine could of got them in working order.

Trump brings cessation of hostilities and introduces peace negotiations to Korean Peninsula and Middle East.  Gets Nobel nomination; heads explode on the Left.

Obama gets Nobel award for doing nothing and THEN celebrates by invading Libya and toppling and murdering their president and prime minister.  The Left cheers wildly.

And the Left wonders why they are getting trounced.

That's true.

Which is why Trump's contribution counts for nothing so far and doesn't deserve an award.
