Duke Wellington Posted June 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2018 In this scenario there are two people. Guy A: He appears normal, he behaves relatively normal, but he is introverted and doesnt communicate much with others. Guy B: He is abusive, quite toxic, and cannot cope unless he has power over other people. If Guy A lets Guy B have power over him then we would assume its because he doesnt want to be targeted by him. Right? Lets say its worse than that and to avoid being targeted Guy A allows Guy B be to dictate all his views, thoughts, opinions, and how he sees others. Lets say its even worse than that. After talking with Guy A its appears that he totally believes all the views, thoughts, opinions, and how he sees others, that has been dictated to him. Is that Co-Dependency? Tatetopa Posted June 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2018 No that is either a staunch Democrat or a staunch Republican. with no room to see the truth in the middle.
Kittens Are Jerks Posted June 17, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2018 Codependency, perhaps, insofar as Guy A sacrificing his well being to manipulate the attentions of Guy B, or Guy B's need to control Guy A. However, while the relationship on its face appears to have some elements of co-dependency, the dynamics between Guy A and Guy B smack of something more complex than that.
