Levitation

Found this crazy video in the telekinesis subreddit and it really tripped me out. I wouldn't automatically assume it's real, but I have to admit that it's pretty damn convincing.

This is another good one. Like you, I wouldn't rule out a trick but damn! it's a clever one if that's what it is. I don't know whether it's significant or not, but in both videos we don't get to see behind the levitating person. We're shown that there's nothing supporting them from above.

Of course they are tricks. Why else would they not show you their backs?

Saw something like this in Trafalgar square. It is a trick.

The person taking the video is absolutely hopeless at filming.

This is one of the oldest magic tricks. Indian fakirs have been doing this since at least the 9th century. It is widely known how this trick is preformed.

Please can one of you explain exactly how the men in each of the above videos have done the trick, because I can't work it out at all. Thanks.

The man in the second video is seen to rise off the ground .... apparently.

Notice the sh** quality of both videos? Notice how is slows and gets blurry as he "rises"?

Notice how in the first video the camera seems to stay a mile away at all times?

Come on. Don't be this dense,

So you're saying they're both photoshopped? I see no 'blurriness' as he rises.

I think it's interesting to watch his shadow as he rises.

Yet none of these "amazing" telekinetics are willing to do their tricks under lab conditions. I mean, if such a thing were real, we'd have to rethink both physics and biology. Yet, no one does it and if they do they always fail.

Doesn't really see any extra blurryness. Just looks like a normal slow motion effect. Maybe it has something to do with the trick, maybe not. But the second video does not stay a mile away at all times. Like most people, you seem to have stopped the video 5 seconds in and I guess you assumed that 5 seconds represents the whole video.

I don't understand how you think this is relevant. Obviously not at all how either video was created.

Widely known except to you apparently. Otherwise, why not enlighten us?

The one you saw was probably the one in Xenofish's diagram. I doubt you saw a levitation like the ones in the videos.

So people still buy into fakes and frauds. Nothing ever changes.

So far, I don't see anyone who has completely "bought into" the supposed levitations in these videos. Nobody seems to actually believe that this is truly real just based on the videos. We just aren't so desperate to prove that they are fake, grasping and clinging to explanations that don't even make sense. Is it really that hard to just say we don't know something? I think the most reasonable explanation is some sort of video editing, but I can admit that they still look real enough to impress me.

I swear, it's like some of you guys are actually afraid of it being real despite your absolute certainty that it's not.

They don't impress me. Perhaps my standards are way to high.

I've seen people like Criss Angel put levitation effects on TV that look more fake than the videos posted here, especially the first one. You'd think Criss would have the resources to do a better job than these guys. I'm a guy who's seen a lot of video tricks being passed off as magic, and I'm not really able to detect any signs of editing in the video I posted. Only thing that seems fishy to me is no footage of ascension and descension. The second video seems to lend itself slightly more to some sort of video editing, but that's just my amateur opinion. I'm not an expert in video editing.

So yeah, I'm just saying I'm impressed by this compared to other things I've seen.

In videos it is not really 'photoshopping' - video editing is generally done in specialised programs like 'After Effects'.  It doesn't take much effort at all, and someone who is good at using the program will not leave a visible trace.
