I am referering to all those who still believe in books written by  men who rode about on camels , and married girls as young as 9, we have moved on from that in civilised societies.

If you want to believe in a god, fine, but your existance on this planet has nothing to do with fantasy gods....it is about time people started looking at themselves today and what you can learn from history,  reading these books can be interesting, but they have no place in our modern world other than in a museum.

Have you  ideas about living your life without it being dictated to you through ancient scripts?

Do you pray when it tells you to?

Do you not eat certain things because it tells you not to?

Do you dress a certain way?

Do you have a mind of your own?

Except that you haven't, even by your own admission. You don't speak Arabic, so your Arabic sources are disingenuous at best and straight-up fabrications at worst. So which is it?

as I said, I have nothing to prove...I know enough Arabic to get by on reading the quran etc.

none of my thinking is fabricated....I suggest if you have doubts then you work it out on your own...

I am sure you will come to the same findings as me

You really don't know how this whole "proof" thing works, do you? You have made a claim, but you have not substantiated it, proven it, or done anything but declare yourself infallible. Only three kinds of people do that: liars, idiots, and children who join this site during summer vacation. Which are you?

Sorry sugar, but ALL of your thinking IS fabricated. You have reached and stretched to make facts fit your daydream.

And as for the title of this thread "Whom to Believe...???", not you cupcake. :)

you don't need a degree to state the truth....I have seen the truth ...and most don't like it!

With degrees come a lot of dogma by the so called education system.

my reasoning is not all over the place....

my post which you are referring to suggests that the surah in question is actually referring to Sirius...

if you have evidence that it isn't the case then feel free to post

It shows you're incapable of coherent thought.

Unlike religious texts?

With degrees come the understanding of substantiating claims with evidence. The postulation of a theorem. And the understanding that scrutiny and skepticism are essential in learning.

If I can be skeptical and scrutinize my own work, I can be certain I have studied it as best I can. Without falling victim to the Dunning Kruger effect.

If I can be skeptical and scrutinize other people's work. I won't fall victim to charlatans.

There is an ancient proverb about having an open mind. And it goes along the lines of, "The trouble with having an open mind is that people will try and put things in it", or "if your mind is too open your brains might fall out".

I've seen that term enough to know it actually means : To see things my way.

Plus it's also like a sly insult depending on usage.

Perhaps that is how some might use it.

A mind should be open to possibilities but guarded by scrutiny and skepticism.

To have an open mind is the be able to criticize  ideas. Under scrutiny and skepticism. Digging into what is and what isn't.

It depends on someone's use of the term.

To be open-minded does not necessitate one being empty-headed.
