This guy shouldn't have been armed in a bar.  It's just a bad idea.  That said, those campus popo seem a little too twitchy on the trigger to me.

Why shouldn't he be armed in a bar?  Doesn't your Constitution allow for citizens to bear arms unrestricted?

Most of the shootings we have around Des Moines seem to happen at bars.

Hardly surprising, guns and alcohol.....bad mix.  Still doesn't answer the two questions I posed.

Only in certain states. In New Jersey you have to jump through flaming hoops to get a gun and your not allowed to carry it in public loaded. If you actually do have a carry permit it must be left in your vehicle when entering private property or in my case, when I was a tribal security officer, only on tribal grounds.

Wow, quite confusing.  You can have a dozen machine guns and semis in Las Vegas, like that madman that shot everyone from top of the casino, but you can only have an unloaded gun in public in New Jersey!  Your second amendment allows citizens to bear arms, in which case New Jersey laws are unconstitutional don't you think?  How about Portland where this incident occurred?  Did the policeman flip because he saw a gun which the guy was authorised to carry or was the guy braking the local State (?) law, despite the fact he's Constitutionally within his Rights to bear arms?

I never carried a gun except for dangerous critters when I was working for ranches and that was only a revolver and bolt action rifle. I never used my carry permit. I had a shotgun but that stayed in my car or on my wall.  I never had any use for military style weapons and I think the NRA are ass holes so I don't know the legal details.

This is a case the NRA should be getting involved in. If you can be killed for legally carrying a gun  (he was not inside the bar at the time) the 2nd Amendment really is nothing  more than psychological protection.

No you cant own a machine gun. Not without some major high security clearance. Anything that fires fully auto is illegal for us average Joes.

As for this situation, I just don't know. It definitely isn't a good idea to pull out a gun in the middle of a bar.

Good luck with that......

When all my crap was going on they were defending a teacher, who was taking his student- underage boyfriend to buy dope and left his legal gun in the glove box.. I already told you about the ass that was trying to get his guns out of the state because he beat his wife. But they were both also Second Amendment Society creeps.

The NRA are a bunch of money grubbing spineless pussies who play with themselves......

Laws vary widely with each state.

shoot first ask questions later, or shoot to kill, so no one answers questions, and why not, there is 1 in 100 chance a cop will get shot,  and 1 in 1000 he will be convicted for murder. so far judges convicted exactly 0 cops
