Still Waters Posted July 4, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 4, 2018 A 92-year-old US woman shot and killed her son, 72, in order to avoid being sent into a care home, police say. Anna Mae Blessing, who is charged with murder, contemplated her son's intentions to put her into care for days, according to court documents. "You took my life, so I'm taking yours," she reportedly said as she was escorted out of the Arizona home she shared with her son and his girlfriend. Mrs Blessing told police she had intended to kill herself, too. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-44707643 2

Grandpa Greenman Posted July 4, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 4, 2018 "Hard to live", was an understatement. Make sure you secure Grandma's guns, before you have the "home" talk.

GlitterRose Posted July 5, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 5, 2018 If dementia is setting in, it's not just time to take away the car keys. It's also time to take away the guns. That said, who knows if he even knew she had them.

Uncle Sam Posted July 19, 2018 #11 Share Posted July 19, 2018 My mother is 76 years old and I take care of her. No way I am putting her in a nursing home. She been there for me when my birth family wanted to put me up for adoption, ever since I was 2 weeks old. I love her to death and owe her everything.

The usual mob pounces to make it a gun-issue, and therefore miss the Human side of the issue... as always. Some people just won't be treated like dirt, and some of them are armed well enough to resist that kind of treatment. skliss Posted July 20, 2018 #13 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Considering that the son was 72, it's possible he could no longer care for her himself.
