I do think that one of the major aspects of the psychological operation against Trump is to make
people feel superior to him.... to make them feel good because he is bad.... and it feels good to be better
than the President of (arguably) the most powerful country on the planet - to be better than alpha males
like Trump and Putin... feels good and that is one of the ways the propagandists keep the Mind Control
on track.... it's seductive psychologically to be made to  feel so superior and to feel you have it all sussed...

and whatnot :)

IMO

yes I know.....

like I said....I was putting it another way - ...
the cognitive dissonance comes from the stress of knowing deep down you are ignoring all the good things
about the person you are demonizing... and going out of your way to convince yourself you are
right so everyone who disagrees must be wrong... or bad..... or deplorable.... etc etc

something like that anyway :)

No, it's not that either.

Cognitive dissonance is when you hold two contradictory beliefs simultaneously.

If you do not believe someone is doing something good, then thinking they are not good is certainly not an example of cognitive dissonance.

I suspect you heard someone else use it, thought it sounded good and have now tried, unsuccessfully, to use it yourself. Saw it all the time when teaching. Kid learns new word, tries to use it in every lesson, whether it makes sense or not.

appealing to the psychologically  susceptible using negativity as a tool carries it's own risks I think....
like when Hillary came out with the Basket of Deplorables comment - she miscalculated and it backfired -

and the never ending negativity and name calling will probably backfire as well - it deserves to anyway -
but what other avenue have the Trump Detractors got ... they can only double down on the negative tactics..

I stumbled on this video earlier - I hadn't really heard about the #Walkaway Testimonies before just the occasional mention -

many many people are getting pretty sick of all the name calling and negativity...

yes that's what it said in the link I provide...

quote bolded...

In the field of psychology, cognitive dissonance is the mental discomfort (psychological stress) experienced by a person who simultaneously holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values. The occurrence of cognitive dissonance is a consequence of a person performing an action that contradicts personal beliefs, ideals, and values; and also occurs when confronted with new information that contradicts said beliefs, ideals, and values.

re underlined...

so someone who is convinced Trump is a monster with no redeeming qualities.... sees the economy is  doing well
and unemployment is down....and so feels psychological discomfort - because how can that be !!

Trump is supposed to be all bad.... a terrible horrible person but all those people voted for him...
and still support him.... how can that be !!!

anyway... I see you try and use your own negative psychology in your posts... ^_^

Us Deplorables see beyond Trump’s human frailties and see his intentions and actions (and they are positive).  The Progressives can’t get beyond his faults and that is the source of their cognitive dissonance.  They don't know where the good things are coming from.  They say it must be Obama.  All they have is their negativity.

The Truman show
2 hours ago, and then said:

My guess, and it's only that, is that more of his voters actually supported his plainspoken rhetoric than voted for him just to avoid HRC (as I did).  I think the man is a NYC style brawler and refuses to be politic in most situations and I think we desperately need that just now.  Obama was so slick he oozed.  He also hated this country, IMO.  Love or hate Trump, there's no doubt of his love of country - at least not among those who judge him on his actions, not the divisive rhetoric of the 5th column media.

trying to quell the U.S. trade deficit is all the proof i need that Trump is an American patriot. trying to be careful with U.S. tax dollars concerning NATO is another good example of Trump having his heart in the right place. but he's an amateur and naive beyond what is required for president.

economy. the U.S. invented capitalism but the sad truth is that others are better at it than you guy's now. America's economy is a consumer based one. it imports more than it exports. your businesses with the exception of those digital ones are bloated dinosaurs that have been outclassed from the Chinese and Europeans. correcting this is important but doing so under threat of a trade war without making your economy competitive and export driven first doesn't solve the problem, all it does is kick the can down the road and punishes those that did the right thing.

foreign policy. Trump is in the process of remaking alliances that have stood a long time. sure America pays alot but it also gets world dominance as a reward. disturb this balance and new balances will form that might not serve American interests better. by and large there is world peace at the moment. rewarding foreign anti democratic behaviour and aggression by China and Russia will only encourage others to act the same. not good.

sure America has problems and they need to be addressed but i think that Trump is a big risk and i just don't believe that he is as good and as competent as he makes out to be. and thats what the media is judging him on i.e. his own self inflated opinion of himself and his belief that everything was wrong before he became president and he's the only one that can fix it by destroying it first and not his good intentions to Make America Great Again.

If you are seious. Then let me tell you that Obama did fight the symptoms but the causes were never battled. But Trump does not even do this. He uses strategies which were not just proven false by history over and over. No they are destructive as well. So they will accelerate this spiral. You will see. Also,  I've never been a fan of Obama. He introduced more control, he didn't stop torture and his economic measures were too superficial. However, compared to Trump he is truly an enlightend beeing. And this says more about Trump than Obama.

That said, It is quite astonishing what people all around the world, not just the USA are fabricateing in 2018: I really hope WW3 comes, because this would be better than what will come if this goes on. (Yes I have reached that point)

I ask the same question to you. Economic indicators show that I'm right. You and your fellow leftists have no regard for facts or truth. It could be that you're just a dumb sheep who's brainwashed by Democratic propaganda news outlets. That can be forgiven. It's another thing if you're just willfully ignorant. Go watch "The View". That's more your speed.

You know, if Putin was responsible for getting Trump elected, it was because Putin understood the needs and listened to the American people better than  the Democrats have.  Putin has been good for America.

Yes, this was a joke.  More specifically, sarcasm.  It was interesting to see the range of responses on this.  I don’t think I’ve seen a post with such a variety of reactions.  Too many thought I was serious.  But in a way, I guess I was in about just as much as the likelihood Progressives think that there was collusion between Trump and Putin.  At the very least, Putin inadvertently made this nation better by helping Trump get elected.  Right?  Hilary would have continued many of Obama’s devastating policies and what she was not able to get done through Bill, she would have finished.  That is a thought that makes me ill.  Remember what Assange said, that it was not a state player that leaked info on Hilary.  State players collect data.  Non-state players have their own reasons.  Russia wasn’t the only one that hacked her server.  The question should be, who hadn’t?  That would have been a smaller list.  That server would have be key in identifying who did hack it and hence proof of collusion.  So why was it disposed of?  The fact is that Russia was looking for intel.  Even they thought Hilary was going to be the next President.  And that was the extent of their involvement.  This collusion is just another excuse as to why Hilary lost.  There is no link.  And this is ruining any kind of chance to build a better understanding with Russia.

This woman has shown true remorse for her actions and I am proud of her taking steps to right a wrong she done. The things the liberal left has done is straddling so close to authoritative tendencies.

You know what is crazy, he is going full on against corruption in Russia which surprised me. You would think he would be for corruption and letting it run Rampant in Russia because how the liberal left, democrats, and rinos portray him.

Corrupt people will happily stab other corrupt people in the back.  It's not really a team sport.   They might work together to mutually profit, but if one is dumb enough to get revealed in a scandal, the rest will happily throw him to the sharks.

You just pulled a Trump-style reversal.

You said something, walked it back, then said it again.

Reasonable. Once I thought he was the better alternative, not sure anymore. Still glad it wasn't HRC. I think he is a NY style brawler who is is totally political.  Money and power and the games it plays are political.  He is a master at that and a PR genius.  People think that just because he was not in a political party in public office, he was non-political.  It is how he survived and prospered.

and then, some of his actions are good,  they are also consistent with self-interest, but I am not yet convinced he loves our country.  As for divisive rhetoric, he generates a lot of it himself.

Or someone is convinced he is a saint and everything he does benefits America.

He is neither,  He is a man, a mix of both, maybe with some patriotism, maybe with some self interest.    AS Risky said above, sometimes when he means well, the result is not as good as he hoped.

I thought it was clear??  Perhaps I should have added an emojicon…  Sometimes it defeats the purpose though.

I try to take posters at their word without getting into their minds to presume what they really meant.

You almost have to but on a forum it is difficult because of the multitude of posters.  I admit that I sometimes get personalities mixed up.  There are those that you can’t take them at the word and others you can.  I hope I am one.  Overall, I do try to be very thoughtful with my replies.  I do my research.  I run across old links I haven’t seen in awhile and find new ones.  Sometimes I am too thoughtful and never finish a reply because I’m taking too long or I get my thoughts out on a reply to someone else in another thread.  I know I have many replies to you lingering on the shelf.

I am so glad to hear that not all conservatives are yet ready to live under the socialist totalitarian Russian state.  Maybe there is yet hope.

Conservatives never want to live under a socialist totalitarian Russian state and neither do they want to live under an American Progressive Socialist state either.  So hope for what?  That we will one day?  Then you can keep hoping because it will never happen.  Once Socialism takes over in this country, we can just throw out the Constitution and that’s what Progressives want.  This is the underpinnings of the next civil war.  A Democratic lost this fall will save millions of lives down the road.  As election day gets closer, we will see the Progressives get more and more violent as their attacks on the President, Deplorables, this nation as conceived, and anyone else not like them increase.  They will stop at nothing to create anarchy and the MSM will tout it 24x7.  It won’t matter if it is true or not and most won’t be.  If they do win, their viciousness won’t stop and it will be just a matter of time before the fuse is lit.  I can’t see Conservatives settling this time around.  That’s just my prediction.  It will take divine intervention to save this country.
