glorybebe Posted July 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2018 A B.C. rafting guide recently got a fright when a young grizzly bear tried to chase him down the Elaho River near Squamish In the video, which was shot on a Wedge Rafting trip, the bear can be seen charging into the water toward the rescue kayaker on the commercial rafting trip. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/grizzly-bear-chases-kayaker-down-b-c-river-1.4751753 I can't imagine the fright he must have got 6
+susieice Posted July 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2018 Good thing those rafters yelled to alert the kayaker of the bear's presence. I didn't realize a bear could move that fast in water.
+Hammerclaw Posted July 19, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 19, 2018 When the Mandans told Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery about a great bear they'd encounter up river they were not impressed. They had the most modern rifles and ammunition and saw no reason for concern. After a few encounters, however, they were not so sure. The beasts were so hard to kill! Shot a dozen times, sometimes through the heart or the head and they still charged after them. They drove one hunting party into the river; another up a tree. Lewis or Clark finally wrote in their journal, "The curiosity of the men in respect to this creature is pretty much satisfied". *LOL* 3
Still Waters Posted July 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 19, 2018 The kayaker didn't half shift when he realised the bear was there! It's just as well he did too, he did well to get away from it so fast.

Davros of Skaro Posted July 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Maybe something was chasing the bear, and the bear just wanted to get to the other side?
Dark_Grey Posted July 20, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Expect more of these encounters since BC outlawed Grizzly hunting...
