Patterns of evidence: Exodus

Has anyone watched this documentary? My extremely religious friend told me to watch it hearing that I'm an ancient Egyptian fanatic. I find it very hard to watch like things?

Thoughts please?

Thanks in advance.

No, but "evidence", and "Exodus" does not go together very well.

Have your friend watch this:

I've been curious to see Patterns of Evidence, if just to see perchance a new spin on an ancient fiction. One must keep up to date, right?

Narrated by Kevin Sorbo? I want to watch it some time.

Appears to have pretty good numbers/reviews.

Watched it today.

It's mostly about David Rohl's new chronology.

Sorbo’s a men’s rights activitist nutbag.

You forgot the scare quotes. He's a men's "rights" activist nutbag.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Chronology_(Rohl)

"Before the 1995 publication of A Test of Time, Thomas L. Thompson, a theologianassociated with Biblical Minimalism, had insisted that any attempt to write history based on a direct integration of biblical and extra-biblical sources was "not only dubious but wholly ludicrous".[5] Rohl explained his view on the issue in The Lost Testament(2007): "Is the Old Testament history or myth? The only way to answer that question is to investigate the biblical stories using the archaeological evidence, combined with a study of the ancient texts of the civilisations which had a role to play in the Bible story. But this has to be done with an open mind. In my view the biblical text – just like any other ancient document – should be treated as a potentially reliable historical source until it can be demonstrated to be otherwise."'

He was just getting into the role for when they cast him in "Different Strokes" the movie.

Admittedly it is an interesting watch ( I haven't finished as of yet, so can still be destroyed), but they've changed the exodus time from the commonly accepted New Kingdom under Ramses II to the Middle Kingdom. It also investigates all aspects of the exodus tale.

I don't know, I'm feeling very apprehensive.

The Brooklyn Papyrus apparently illustrating a list of Hebrew names of slaves.

Avaris apparnetly a settlement of Israelites?

Higher infant death in this community apparently supporting the bibles claim of the Pharoah ordering the death of babies.

Just a few examples of what is being brought up in this documentary.

Ah, steeped in fringe whimsy and wacky alternative history, very short in real facts.

Even more astonishing is that the Ancient Egyptians made it to Brooklyn.
