Still Waters Posted August 17, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2018 For most of us, the body's deterioration is an unavoidable part of getting older. This age-related decline, known as "senescence", can occur subtly and slowly for some individuals, while for others it happens much faster. A researcher from The Australian National University is trying to find out why. Eve Cooper, a Ph.D. student with the Research School of Biology at ANU, along with her advisor and co-author Professor Loeske Kruuk, gathered research on 14 different animal species to investigate the impact of early-life environment on the ageing process. Bird species such as swallows, storks and kestrels were included in the study, along with deer, sheep, mountain goats, squirrels and even the banded mongoose. https://phys.org/news/2018-08-wild-animals-gracefully.html
