Groovy Covers

Songs from movies and series performed by actors are not usually something I'd highlight, but this one impressed me. What makes it special is the athmosphere and sensitivity depicted. You really feel his pain and frustration. You can sense he doesn't wanna be there and do this, but has to, to achieve his goal.

From the show "The Leftovers" (2014-17) performed by actor Justin Theroux

For the record, the one I posted previously, I don't think it's a better version, but just as good...

This other song, while I admire most about it is the lyrics, I prefer the cover by Ronstadt as the vocalist.

"Torn" was a song written by Phil Thornalley and Ednaswap's Anne Preven and Scott Cutler in 1993, but it was first recorded and released by Danish singer Lis Sørensen as "Brændt" (Burned) same year. In 1995 Ednaswap made their own version, and in 1996 Norwegian Trine Rein made yet another. Finally in 1997 Natalie Imbruglia made the version that became the world wide hit. That is four version!

1993 (first recorded version)

1995 (second recorded version)

1996 (third recorded version)

1997 (fourth recorded version)

I could tell the same story about "Killing Me Softly With His Song", but it would be six times as long. It became a hit two times, but was recorded more than 60 times!
