Hurricane Florence unexpectedly became the first category 3 or major hurricane of the 2018 Atlantic season today.

It’s still very early in the forecast models but the consistency of a possible westward solution is a bit unnerving.

After what we saw with Harvey in Houston, and Maria in Puerto Rico last year, I am sure of that no one will be under estimating the potential for a catastrophic collision with U.S. this year.

The top two models are not usually in agreement, especially this far out.

With the Jet Stream all but banished to the Northern Latitudes this year, I guess this is what we can expect to see more of in September.

We had a 2-year-old crushed by a tree falling onto a mobile home last night.  It happened about 20 miles from us.  To my knowledge, it was Gordon's only fatality.  The little girl had been in bed when the tree fell. :(

The European model continues to lay Florence down on US, overall.

Helene behind her, may revisit Maria’s old stomping grounds ....

Right now for personal reasons im much more concerned about that disturbance that just formed off the coast of Africa.

Looks like a few models show one hitting Washington. That would be kind of funny in the ironic way. We can only hope the perfect storm conditions don't come together this season but the odds are looking like the US is going to get smacked by at least one giant in the next month.

The official forecast is for a below average season. My forecast for this year was not ironic, nor political, but musical, and for the first time, I used the word "horror."

A sobering tune, if this plays at landfall ....

I’m glad I moved farther from the coast at the beginning of the Atlantic Season, this year.

This is setting up to be an Epic flood event .... including a possible stall on the coast.

There is nothing like being coned in the morning...  and I am old enough to remember when hurricanes had only feminine names.
