For the sake of posterity it was me that came up with the term cabal and it wasn’t that long ago that I did.

Not in this section you weren't.

It could be, I can't be sure, but personally I doubt it.

Actually Kmt_sesh, according to a search in this Forum AM&AH it was YOU in a post in "The Moses Puzzle" thread from October 4, 2017. Not that it matters, but if someone else is going to take credit for something it behooves them to take credit for THEIR OWN work and not someone elses.

I think you’ll find it was me in response to the fringe taunts. Anyway not much as far as bragging rites go... no royalties and no extra privileges to go with the title. But it’s mine none the less.

I just did my own search, and I must be too board because I spent while on it. I really don't think it was me who started it, although I certainly did nothing to stop it! The oldest use of it I could find was in a post by Hanslune from September 2017. It was in a thread in which Risky wasn't even posting.

Ah, that makes sense now! Thank you for the clarification.

The idea that Academia is keeping secrets from everyone else likely predates the specific usage of "Cabal" here by several years but one would be hard pressed to pin it down to any one source at this point.

Look I will be the first to admit that i wasn’t the first to use the word, especially since it hits the mark so well BUT I was most definitely the first one to apply it to your posse. So as far as everyone is concerned officially it’s mine and I bestowed on you all.

It rather figures Hans would be involved, fringies hit us with "The Cabal" as an explanation of their lack of evidence quite often over at ATS years ago. It was embarrassing to read such drivel.

Um, no. Stop taking credit for stuff that's not yours. You have applied it to us conservative, orthodox posters, but I don't think you appreciate how that backfires on your credibility when you so often take the side of the fringe. You got it from us and have tried to confiscate it for your own agenda, but it serves only to make us look stronger.

Yeah, that's its origin. Rarely can the fringe crowd address or challenge real science and research, so they try to offset their weakness by claiming "conspiracy!" We took the term for our own.

Captain Risky simply follows the first law of the Conspiracy Code of Conduct.

Rule 1: Never admit that you are wrong. If you can't defend your position in face of evidence, do one of the following:

- Lie

- Ignore

- Call people names

- Move goalpost

- Claim that a conspiracy is covering up evidence for the conspiracy you are defending

- Claim other poster are part of the conspiracy

- Claim you never wrote the thing that have been proven false

- Claim that the moderators/NWO/CIA/Illuminati/Aliens changed you post

- Call people sheep/sheeple

- Post links to defend your position. Hope that no one reads the links.

- Derail thread

- Leave discussion

(Feel free to use more than one of the above at the same time.)

You're all wrong, of course, as this post from 2012 clearly demonstrates:

There's nothing new under the Sun, and I'm the only one here to have coined a (now) well-used phrase in this section.

And it's not about Vergina.

So you attached an adjective to someone else's original usage of the term.

Sorry, you coined a slug.

Or, would you like me to attach an adjective too?

Okay. Nonexistent Evil Cabal.

I made that.
