Timothy Posted September 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2018 Hi mods, When UM-Bot posts stories, such as this one: Do the authors get notified about the thread, and the comments on it? Just that some seem to want responses, however it’s not obvious to me that there’s any way to contact or notify them, so that they can join in on the discussion. So, how does it work? Thanks.
Saru Posted September 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2018 The stories are submitted through a form on the site and then when one of them is posted up, the author is sent a link via e-mail. Some will participate in the discussion, some prefer not to contribute - it depends.

I think it would be good to have a mechanism which alerts them (by email) of posts on their thread, even if they’re not a member, and then if they want they can opt out. If it’s an available function, it would be good. Otherwise, please disregard.
Saru Posted September 17, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 17, 2018 Unfortunately that would require a custom coding solution, it's not a feature supported by our current software.
Earl.Of.Trumps Posted July 23, 2019 #7 Share Posted July 23, 2019 Please help with this. On the front page today, there is a story of a 75 year old mystery being solved concerning the sinking of a US Naval vessel during WWII of the coast of Maine. (7/23/19) I can't find the section that this thread is in LOL. Yes I am that bad. I thought it might be in modern mysteries but it is not. And people I know have comments to the story that show on the front page so I think it must be a thread in UM somewhere. What's the secret in finding such links? Thanks
