Monkey escapes research lab: On the run

Eldorado

A monkey is on the run after escaping a research laboratory in Louisiana.

Staff at the New Iberia Research Center (Nirc), part of the University of Louisiana, realised the young rhesus macaque was missing on Saturday following what it described as a “cage failure”.

On Sunday, the 12-pound monkey was spotted heading to a woods in the town of New Iberia, around 30 miles southeast of Lafayette, the university said on its Facebook page.

This is how it starts.

Escapes?

Are we sure it escaped, or was there an environmental terror group at work here and the media doesn't want to inform the public of anything that might distract from the constant Trump hate?

I hope the little guy makes it to a place of safety. What kind of experiments were they doing on it? Run little monkey!

Don't they use a lot of monkeys in vaccine testing?  That poor monkey could be spreading some dangerous virus as we speak!

Do you really think they would tell the truth if it was?

50 shades of paranoia.

As he was used in "breeding" group, I'd worry more about mutation. Read Dean Koontz?

Ever seen the movie "28 Days Later"? The zombie holocaust started with the "rage" virus being injected in to monkeys who then escaped...not good!

That's not the reason for my comment.

You guys really think he's contaminated with an unknown virus? Here's what the place is about. If he was breeding, he'll be ok. There are no monkeys native to Louisiana. If not, they will have to warn the public or face dire consequences from a lot of very angry people. That's likely to happen anyway.

Yeah, how dare people make comments that you don't like, right?

Perhaps.

As for the actual monkey. It will either be caught or killed.

They were to begin relocating the chimps to a sanctuary in 2016

If some sort of activists released this chimp, it would have been a lot more than just one.

Eh, that's sad. Stories of animal cruelty put a damper on my morning...

That's what happened in the opening of 28DL!

Spoiler

I was going to post a clip but after watching it over again, it's a bit much for UM...

Hope they catch the little fella and bring him somewhere he can live out the rest of his days in peace

The headline should read:

Reminds me of "Watchers", one of the best books Dean Koontz ever wrote.
