US pastor leaves Turkey after release

 

A US pastor has left Turkey after more than two years in detention in a case that badly strained ties with the US. 

Andrew Brunson left from the western city of Izmir in a US military plane bound for Germany, his lawyer said.

President Trump said Mr Brunson would probably visit the White House on Saturday after landing in the US.

It's amazing what you can accomplish with economic pressure - and the backbone to USE it.  Hopefully, Erdog won't be taking anymore Americans hostage on frivolous charges.

Good work from Trump.this will bode well for him and his party in the mid terms. hopefully Trump use of economic pressure was enough and he didn't have to give up anything in order to get this release. if i remember the Turks were after guarantees that their sanctions busting dealings with Iranian banks and gold transfers didn't attract any fines or trade sanctions from the U.S.
