A British man has been shot dead by a hunter in the French Alps, police have confirmed.

The 34-year-old victim, who has not been named, died on Saturday evening after being struck by a single bullet while cycling in thick woods near the resort of Les Gets.

It is thought the 22-year-old gunman, who was with a part of local hunters opened fire after mistaking the cyclist for a moving animal.

The Briton was wearing brightly-coloured clothing and was easily identifiable, according to one source.

This seems suspicious... they fired at somebody wearing day-glo cycling spandex ?

We should send over a gun boat to teach them some manners !

That's why people should never put  horns  on thier bikes.  ...sorry, it's a sad story of course.

Update:

The mother of a British cyclist shot dead in the French Alps after being mistaken for an animal has branded him a monster - and said she is glad he was killed.

--

Another woman claimed she had been raped and beaten by Sutton around 100 times.

Sutton, who moved to France from originally from Caerphilly in south Wales six years ago, ran the Wild Beets Kitchen restaurant in Les Gets, a Haute-Savoie ski resort.

The Sun reported that Sutton fled abroad when confronted by his mother and alleged victim.

That's what happens when you're too eager for a kill.

as a once in a while hunter i agree with you.  one has to make sure 100% who you shot at, and what is behind the target in case you miss.
