Eldorado Posted October 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2018 The U.S. military on Tuesday announced that it had killed 60 al-Shabaab militants in an airstrike in Somalia, the largest such strike on the terrorist group in nearly a year. U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) said the strike was carried out Friday near the city of Harardere — in the central part of the country — in coordination with the Somali government, according to an AFRICOM statement. “This precision airstrike was the largest airstrike against al-Shabaab since November 21, 2017, when U.S. forces conducted an airstrike against an al-Shabaab camp killing approximately 100 terrorists,” the command notes. AFRICOM said that no civilians were injured or killed in the strike. +and-then Posted October 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2018 From the piece: Last year the terrorist group bombed a truck in Mogadishu, an attack that killed more than 500 people and was the world's deadliest terror attack since 9/11. The group has since been pushed from the city but still controls parts of southern and central Somalia. It seems to me they did a good thing by eliminating these murderers. It shows the value of special ops forces as well. They can get close, observe and target with much less chance of obliterating a bunch of civilians by mistake.
