Russian President Vladimir Putin gloated Thursday about what he sees as the end of the United States’ world dominance due to growing “mistakes.”

Putin also claimed America holds “some responsibility” for the disappearance of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi because the Saudi journalist was living in the U.S., he said his in annual foreign policy speech, according to the Financial Times. He did not elaborate. Khashoggi has not been seen since he entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2. Turkish officials say he was murdered and dismembered by orders of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Oh Vlad, you're so quaint.  Already forgot about the last time Russia tried to dominate the USA huh?

I don't think Russia has much more bite than bark. China is who we need to worry about. They are carving out some aggressive trade routes as we speak and planting military bases along the way. Sound familiar? They are starting to rival the US by following the same strategies to get a global hold and now they have dropped this hammer:

China unveils oil-backed currency: the petro-yuan

Quote

The long-awaited step evoked a surge in global prices for oil with Brent Crude soaring to $71 a barrel for the first time since 2015. US crude benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) reached the highest level in three years at $66.55 per barrel, before retreating to $65.53.

Experts see China’s yuan-dominated contracts as historic as the new futures symbolize the first time that foreign investors can access a Chinese commodity market. The launch ends years of setbacks and delays since the country’s first attempt at listing the securities in 1993.

At the same time, the petro-yuan launch is seen as a blow to the US dollar that has been weakening in recent months. The US dollar is the predominant settlement currency for oil futures contracts. On Monday, the greenback slipped to a 16-month low against the Japanese yen, but remained steady against a basket of six major currencies.

Not this time. This time he simply stated the obvious.

Worst American mistake of the century - yes, I know there're still 82 years and a lot of falling down left - is rapidly destroying the US facade, exposing the same rot through which Russia crawled straight into the top of the American power. *hatopus down for that stunt, though they didn't think themselves it will work so beautifully*

There are no signs of consolidating in the US, while their influence is dwindling literally daily. If it keeps at this rate, yup, say bye to the world we used to know. Of course, it won't be Russia that will take their place, probably no single entity will, which would be a good thing really, globally speaking, except that ensuing chaos might turn out to be even more destructive than this... what to call it... idyll it's not.

Its the EU that people need to worry about.

It will surpass Russia, USA, and China. Its the USA with twice the population.

There are plenty of contenders to be the future dominant power in the world.  Putin is just celebrating the dethroning of the current dominant power.

Sure we are but when the UN general assembly openly laughs at your head of state its probably a good indicator that you're on the downslide.

The United States is greater than Trump, he's after all just one of many who've held office.

These presidents have the wheel, but its those down in the engine room who ultimately have control. Trump could serve one term maybe two, and then replaced by some one else.

America as a superpower is going nowhere they'll achieve and define an era similar to pax britannica.

The only rival the Anglosphere face is China.

Russia is a busted flush, if they try to go toe to toe with the USA they'll bankrupt themselves like they did in 1990.

Long may the USA flourish, because we'll be sorry in a world dominated by the chinese a lovely people with a rich culture but politically you only have to look at their human rights record and their foreign adventures in Africa.

What the Chinese have that no other nation on earth has is Patience ,they are prepared to wait a long time to get what they want and they are doing it slowly but surely. One day they will be the World's dominant power.
