UM-Bot Posted October 27, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2018 Scientists developing Europe's new ExoMars rover are optimistic about its chances of finding life on Mars. https://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/news/322786/odds-of-finding-life-on-mars-by-2021-are-5050
Space Commander Travis Posted October 27, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2018 But fortunately, the chances of anything coming from Mars are, according to reputable astronomers, no more than a million to one.
zep73 Posted October 27, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2018 The odds of life to emerge on Earth was crushingly low. If they find it on Mars the universe is rigged
freetoroam Posted October 27, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2018 Quote "The chances are just about 50/50," Lol, in other words, they could find something beneath the soil Or They find nothing. But to all those budding Marsian fans, it is not a chance of finding little green men who live underground. Any life form found would be amazing, even evidence there was a life form in the past. I truely believe we are not alone in terms of intelligent life in the Universe, but to find intelligent life they will have to look beyond our solar system, but for now, Mars will do for looking for any sign than something could lifve on it...or has done in the past. IF they find anything living underground, maybe the next step would be to try and establish if it is the beginning or the end of life on Mars. We have no idea how long man has to go on Earth, maybe as long as the dinosaurs, maybe not.

The reality is that, since no one knows exactly how life began on Earth, and no one knows how often life occurs on other planets, it is impossible to know what the odds of life emerging on Earth were. I know what a living reproducible cell consists of: DNA, RNA and a mitochondrion. To get all three is nothing less than a miracle. It is in fact so unlikely, that most scientists avoid the subject. DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) is in fact so advanced, that the chance for it to have formed spontaneously is lower than if you took a barrel full of random letters and poured them to the ground from up high, they would form a chapter in a specific book when they land. And yet it happened on Earth. I call that crazy luck. If they find it on Mars. we need to rethink everything we thought we knew!
