UM-Bot Posted November 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2018 One of the space agency's recent 'picture of the day' posts reads 'flying saucer crash lands in Utah Desert'. https://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/news/323069/nasa-flying-saucer-image-is-not-what-it-seems
+Not A Rockstar Posted November 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 5, 2018 Ouch. Well, maybe it returned the samples, but, not sure how useful they will be after that crash for study!!

Well, maybe it returned the samples, but, not sure how useful they will be after that crash for study!! Actually NASA was able to extract useful samples from the vehicle: Quote Initial investigations showed that some wafers had crumbled on impact, but others were largely intact. Desert dirt entered the capsule, but not liquid water. Because the solar wind particles were expected to be embedded in the wafers, whereas the contaminating dirt was thought likely just to lie on the surface, it was possible to separate the dirt from the samples. Unexpectedly, it was not terrestrial desert soil introduced in the crash that proved most difficult to deal with during the sample analysis process, but the craft's own compounds such as lubricants and craft-building materials.[19] The analysis team stated that they should be able to achieve most of their primary science goals. On September 21, 2004 the extraction began, and on January 2005, a first sample piece of an aluminum wafer was sent to scientists at Washington University in St. Louis for analysis. freetoroam Posted November 5, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 5, 2018 Lets get straight to the important part: Quote "No space aliens were involved," NASA explained. "The saucer, pictured here, was the Genesis sample return capsule, part of a human-made robot Genesis spaceship launched in 2001." https://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/news/323069/nasa-flying-saucer-image-is-not-what-it-seems

Chaldon Posted November 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted November 6, 2018 Why wouldn't Jim Bridenstine post in his Twitter a picture of himself with a huge poster in his hands saying "There are no aliens!!!"
+DieChecker Posted November 7, 2018 #8 Share Posted November 7, 2018 It's exactly what it looks like, a crashed space craft.... I read it was due to the g-force sensor being put in backwards, so the parachutes did not deploy. You'd think they would have run a diagnostic that would have caught such a technical error, before it was launched.
