keithisco Posted November 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2018 Quote Yellow warning signs put on gravestones labelled dangerous have been dubbed "disrespectful" and "hideous". Plymouth City Council put up the signs on 197 graves at Efford Cemetery during a routine safety check. BBC Radio Two presenter Jeremy Vine tweeted: "Covering the name of the dead person with a fluorescent warning sign is hideous." The council said after "recent feedback" it would be "reviewing how these signs are displayed on graves". "This is Health and Safety gone mad...IMO" Source: 1 2

Perhaps with graves more than 150 years old we should be digging them up and putting the bones into a warehouse somewhere? We can keep the bones just in case they have something to do with future resurrection but there is no reason for old graveyards to exist. 1
Eldorado Posted November 8, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2018 The Yanomami people practice ritual endocannibalism, in which they consume the bones of deceased kinsmen. The body is wrapped in leaves and placed in the forest some distance from the shabono; then after insects have consumed the soft tissue (usually about 30 to 45 days), the bones are collected and cremated. The ashes are then mixed with a kind of soup made from bananas, which is consumed by the entire community. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yanomami Why not eat our nearest and dearest? Uncle Joe Soup, anyone?

I believe that Graves in the UK are only leased for 50yrs after which time they can be legally removed (just the headstones etc) the remains are left where they are.

stevewinn Posted November 9, 2018 #9 Share Posted November 9, 2018 (edited) Liverpool City Council lay the headstones down. Due to a fear of being sued if they fall over and injure someone. You'd think the council would instead make the head stones safe and standing respecting the dead. But then when it comes to respect were losing our way as a society, People even take their dog walking in the cemetary. How many stop them peeing on memorials and clean up/pooper scoop? Birds, cats, mice, rats and all kinds of animals poop and p*** all over graveyards. Not sure why someone would draw the line at dogs. Though people should always pick up their dog's **** when it's anywhere someone will walk, I'll give you that.
