I think you answered your question with the mostly uninhabited part.  California's fires aren't being caused by routine lightning strikes but rather by man made sources.

It’s not as if we lack for ****s who either like to see things burn or simply toss their still lit ciggies out the window of their cars.

To rake and thin the forests. Because finland does and they dont have this problem. Do you realise how much forest there is?

Do you really believe that the people in Finland rake their forests?

Thats nonsense! Its well known that the Fins use vacuum cleaners to clean up their forests (1 time a week)

Quote

The people of Finland have reacted with bemusement on social media at Donald Trump’s assertions that the country rakes its forests to help prevent forest fires

Speaking on Saturday in Paradise, California, about the role of forest management in stemming wildfires, Trump said: “I was with the president of Finland and he said: ‘We have, much different, we are a forest nation.’ He called it a forest nation. And they spend a lot of time on raking and cleaning and doing things, and they don’t have any problem.”

There were also people on hand to point out that the factors affecting whether there are forest fires are very different in California and Finland:

Still anyone out there who think he isnt an idiot? Really?

Aand??

Sorry. Just showed a link to the high fine imposed if someone throws a lit cigarette out of a car window. I probably should have written something. It's not something you want to get caught doing. But you're right. There are people who like to see things burn.

They aren't raking.

And in case anyone actually reads these, here's NOAA's link to California's rainfall in 2016-2017.

Saw this today: https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/13/us/pge-camp-fire-report-outages/index.html

The broken hook was probably the start of the fire.  Article doesn't really say if it was deliberate or not.

Someone going all 2nd amendment on the second tower is definitely deliberate.  This whole fire could be the result of vandalism/terrorism.
