According to google it's 22,180 LY away, so we can expect a reply in the year 46,335-ish (if there is someone at home, when it arrives at M13 in the year 24,155-ish!).

My advice: Don't wait up.

I think we covered the gambit in this article's thread: Laser 'beacon' could be used to attract aliens

What really gets my goat is that Sagan was pretty much all in on ET's and UFO's, until the gov got to him and turned him into a  (probably paid) shill against all that foolish thinking. Of course, maybe that was a good thing, because my stance on reaching out to ET's is pretty well covered in that other thread, as both 'Earl.Of.Trumps' argued our position.
