Carnoferox Posted November 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 26, 2018 Note that this hasn't been confirmed yet. China is notorious for producing fake "scientific discoveries". 1
FlyingAngel Posted November 26, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2018 (edited) Really, who would want to inject HIV into their own body just to 'test' ? Edited November 26, 2018 by FlyingAngel
Imaginarynumber1 Posted November 26, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2018 I am 100% behind this, that is the gene editing of humans. However, China is notorious for producing these fake stories so I don't necessarily believe that this is true. 3

Silver Surfer Posted November 27, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 27, 2018 https://www.livescience.com/64166-first-genetically-modified-babies-risks.html Doesn't sound like it's good for anyone... Especially those modified...at least with our current understanding.

He Jiankui caused outrage earlier this week when he told a genome summit he had altered the genes of twin baby girls so they could not contract HIV. His statement has not been confirmed, but if true breaks tight rules around the use of gene editing in humans. Prof He's university said it was unaware of his experiment. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-46382662
Still Waters Posted December 4, 2018 #11 Share Posted December 4, 2018 Update: Quote Rumours Claim The Chinese 'CRISPR Babies' Scientist Has Gone Missing It's been reported that he is under house arrest at the Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen, China, the institution that employs him, and from which he has been on leave since February. However, the university has denied this, a spokeswoman telling the South China Morning Post, "Right now nobody's information is accurate, only the official channels are."
