This time every year, I always write a story.

I always write a story at this time of year. Dunno why; it's a kind of psychological tic. The combination of winding down at work and suddenly having time on my hands allows me to obsess over characters, and story lines, and subplots.  Anyway, here it is:

Well. It held my interest, I'll give you that! I'm not qualified to review it as a piece of writing, I can only give you my general, overall impression. For me it was like a kaleidoscope or a small patchwork quilt ..... odd pieces striving to make a pattern.

Part way through I went into the other room to get myself a sweet; came back and the first line I read was "You realise you enjoy liquorice". The sweet I was eating was liquorice! Although not strictly a sweet because it has no sugar in it, it's just liquorice oil, boiled hard. It's something I've felt drawn to recently for medicinal purposes.
