My “Now theory” I came up with when I was super super high as a teenager. No one dies. Consciousness just leaps to the next parallel universe in which you didn't die. Other people can die around you but they're fine somewhere in another universe. Old age? Nah, consciousness will leap tens of thousands of parallels until one of them has a solution for the problem no matter how grand or bizarre. The theory goes on to explain time as well and all time and all parallels start and eventually converge again at a single now in which everyone is reunited.

I firmly believe this to this day. Thanks, drugs!!

This, this is worth screenshoting. It will forever be known as the "Skulduggery Theory".

Oh, that's not even half of it. It goes into different states of consciousness and consciousness torrents and quantum entanglement. It was a pretty extensive theory. I have not the time or patience to write it all out again, ironically.

Now, does this theory somehow or another entangle into the possibility that this is all a simulation. If the, what I like to call "rainbow road" has taught me anything. It's that all this doesn't matter.

The problem with saying the universe is a simulation is the question—simulation of what?! What is it simulating? A better way to convey the idea is to posit the universe (or multiverse or whatever) is an artificial environment. Which, I guess makes sense and isn't a misnomer completely, but the universe is basically a data repository anyway, and consciousness has a big place in the framework.

an artificial representation of what? ;)

are aliens visiting this planet? Does bigfoot exist? Why are we here? What is the meaning of life? Etc etc etc!!

All I know for a fact is I've got a crap week ahead of me due to having to spend time with people I can't stand & having to fake happiness for business sake!! Nothings going to change that!;)

Die a little. Not literally?

This is not necessarily true, and is in fact is often woefully inaccurate.

Brain activity and neurotransmitter mechanics are indeed in almost opposite states with some drugs.

Compare PET scans from a person deep in meditation and one high on meth or cocaine or amphetamines and see the vast difference in brain activity. Which is what really dictates what "place" you think you're in.

Hope this helps.

Cocaine, meth and amphetamines are not phycodelics.

Meditating and "phycidelic" drugs take you to the same place. As far as visuals and state of mind anyway. I am speaking from experience of coarse, not my archives of PET scans.

Bad news for your hypothesis. (Not a theory, by the way).

It's been thought of already. About 2500 years ago.

By the Buddhists.

They call it "Samsara."

I invite you to research it yourself.

Peace.

It isn't even technically a hypothesis. In spite of this, “theory” has a catchier ring to it.

Well versed in Buddhism. It isn't the same as Saṃsāra. Saṃsāra has many differences and revolves (no pun intended) around the cyclic nature of things. Life, death, and rebirth, etc. That's a dumbed down version used for convenience here.

My so-called theory, which I'm positive has been thought of before, has Buddhist and Jain Dharma inspiration, and is also inspired by fractals, but is wholly different and goes on to explain the nature of time and matter to a quantum level. Its central tenet is consciousness.

Risking straying off topic here but the only drug I'm interested in trying is DMT.  I've read and heard tons about it and it sounds extremely interesting.

I have done it and im not into a lot of drugs either. It is incredibly interesting and i researched for months before trying it. This alone i would not classify as a drug. After trying it i am %100 convinced that you actually leave your body and visit what i would consider the afterlife. There is no sense of time there and all information is available. It looks like you rip straight through reality and come out in a beautiful garden place where everything is translucent but at the same time very colorful. There are other entities there. It is not an easy thing to aquire but i would strongly recommend it to whoever is curious about anything really you will get all your answers when you go there.

I thought i was the only one who thought that! I never share with anyone  but many odd experiences led me to believe the same thing, i am happy to hear someone else had the same suspicion!

Woops i just wrote a whole page about this and it didnt edit correctly and now i have to go but i am so excited that someone else saw/suspected this can you please tell me what clues gave you the idea?

Like noticing you don't die no matter what you do but seemingly awake unscathed in a slightly different reality each time?

No. I was 100% awake. No doubts. I was fully awake and refreshed, closed my eyes for about 15 seconds and watched an animation, then opened my eyes and said to myself "I was awake while that happened."  No joke, I was fully awake!

I have written many articles and in my journey, I became associated with a number of people with expertise in areas of interest. One of these was a guy who worked in a sleep lab. He couldn't even count the number of people who told fantastic stories of happenings that took place while participating in a sleep study. One thing they had in common, they would swear in a court of law that they were wide awake and aliens really did come thru the wall, etc...Only problem with these stories: The subjects were all being closely monitored om live feeds and were hooked up to EEG. The verdict? All were in some level of a sleep phase. A couple of them even had their eyes wide open, but analysis showed them to be sleeping.

I'm not calling you a lair, because it's obvious that you fully believe what you are saying. One thing I would do though, is go to a specialist and get your eyes checked. While your mind might be taking these specs/floaters and transforming them, there may be an issue with your eyes. For example: A detached retina is not something you want to happen.

"Nothing's going to change that?" Wow! Things are changing and being disrupted every single day with this caronavirus scare. We can't even get people to take meetings in major corporations right now. I have people emailing me to cancel trips here.

As for what we are supposed to represent in a simulation: Whatever the programmer decides. For example: Maybe every so often, the programmer throws a virus in to see how we handle it. And no, I'm not saying we live in a simulation. Just throwing things out there.

Interesting stuff @rcranz7.

I can't fully say I've experienced animations as such, but I do have an unusual 'appearance' when I'm lying in bed ready to go to sleep. I can tell when my mind & body is about to sleep because with my eyes closed I see, as clear as day, a very symmetrical grid pattern in my field of view, as it were. I always see it just prior to falling asleep. I'm thinking it might be something to do with the cones and rods we have on the back of the eyeball. They're quite symmetrical. But animations? No.

Many years before I had these cartoonish hallucinations I also experienced sleep paralysis. It usually happened when I was half awake and I would always see a dark shadow silently floating next to me. I can understand the mind being awake and the body being paralyzed in this half awake state, but I didn't understand why this condition was always accompanied by a dark figure hovering nearby.  8o

I had to join and post in hopes the OP is still around. These ARE NOT hypnogogic hallucinations and infact are capable of some very interesting interactions with reality. A few times I've fully waken up, always after a dream feels "intruded upon" to see and to actually move or inform me of a certain situation about to occur. For example, I've had one point to the night stand several times and act out answering a phone seconds before it rang (scaring the hell out of me. What's more, the caller seemed to almost know and reference the same theme of the dream), no one calls me this early... One knocking on a magical door seconds before happening irl too, wrong home. You're also able to interact with them, I envisioned ropes trying to wrap around one who became furious and started running away. I'm not sure what they are but if you focus on them and watch long enough, they almost fold into the static and go down an invisible drain. They don't just fade away...there's an actual static that appears to overlay reality that slowly reverts back to normal.

I've ONLY observed this after VERY odd dreams....dreams where you'll be doing something and some random characters show up and try to "examine" or "harass" you. Something is definitely going on...I've also start d to have synchronous experiences hourly that feel almost unintentional. Thinking something and someone will respond as if to answer the question or probably the weirdest of them all, 5 years of waking up to a pumping noise in the room that shuts off precisely as I'm moving. I've had plumbers check it out to no avail but can assure you, it's still there quietly 100% of the time, random naps and all. Something feels off...so I'm trying to find others in hopes someone might know what is going on.

Edit: Tip for those who've not seen and would like to...turn on a closet light before going to bed and shut the door so it illuminates a single wall...upon waking up from a weird dream, try focusing on the wall, you'll see them. If it's a typical run of the mill dream, won't be there. Another way you can tell is by rapidly looking right to left, usually if it's one of "those" dreams, you'll feel almost like you get a brain zap. Discombobulated, like when you put on a sweater or pants that don't quiet fit right and you're trying to stretch out in your own body. I have theories, but nothing circumstantially relevant that explains it. Whatever is happening is beyond my current ability to comprehend.
