You Can Get it if You Really Want

Desmond Dekker -

<snipped for brevity>

You’ve hit onto one of Trump’s secrets.  The Progs focus on only “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”, thinking they have the upper hand.  But what Trump pays attention to is “But if you try sometimes you might find you get what you need”.  It is my belief that Trump only needs say $2 billion, not $5 billion, so he’ll trade insults with the Progs until they’ll come back with $2 billion or whatever it might be.  They’ll think they’ve won because he didn’t get the $5 billion, but he got what he needs.  All he needs is to begin to correct the metastasized mindset to get it on the right track, then the Progs will find it difficult to resist.  I really don’t think Trump wants a wall the entire length but he does want an aggressive border security to establish a base for comprehensive immigration policy.  Closing the border will block the illegal commerce and cheap labor and the voter pool for the Progs.  The Progs will have to start working for the American people and not try to replace them.

Good! Free trade is the very reason this country has lost most of its manufacturing jobs to China and Mexico!

Raise tariffs and our jobs will return. The mid west will be America's rust belt once again.

So how much are you prepared to pay for an iPhone?

The jobs go off shore to improve the bottom line. You know... for economic reasons.

Trump already tried to cut a deal with the democrat’s asking instead for 2.5 billion and was turned down. With public opinion firmly with the democrat’s Trump will have to consider asking the Mexicans for a contribution or better yet start a gofundme page because no one the house is interested in his antics anymore.

Trump reminds me of that WW1 French General Foch. When asked how’s the war going he replied... ‘my centre is collapsing the right flank is in retreat situation is perfect for a counterattack...

How’s it going Trump?

‘I have a Russian investigation to deal with... foreign policy mistakes...  a couple of not to bright sons... lost the House of Representatives... stock markets are tanking... and approval ratings the worse in living memory... situation excellent to build a controversial wall...

Securing the borders and evicting these criminals is a sure way to improve his approval ratings. Any American who cares about his country and doesn't have a bleeding heart false sense of compassion for the undeserving will agree.

Finally an American president with cojoines. A great leader who places the national self interest above vague and abstract notions of democracy and human rights.

I can understand how some of a more liberal persuasion may think so. I also consider Vladimir Putin the greatest world leader of the 21st century. With Trump a close second.

How's that for terrifying?

Not sure that Putin would enjoy such a comparison.

Yeah thats pretty terrifying. It fits with the global and national trending of authoritarianism though. Are you a #himtoo guy as well?

It is a somewhat comical ranking considering the massive differences between the two but hey you do you :tu:

Unlike Trump, President Putin doesn't have to deal with an obstinate unpatriotic political opposition attempting to stymie his every move. Thus Putin has been able to enact most of his agenda without much opposition.

Trump on the other hand has to deal with such obstructions, and consequently has been unable to attain the pinnacle of his true potential as a leader.

Having different visions for reaching the same goal is what has always made America great. Once you start claiming any opposition to the man in power is unpatriotic you start down the road to tyranny.

That sir is what has allowed America to remain a free nation. They're called checks and balances. They were designed by these really smart dudes you should look into, theyre popularly referred to as The Founding Fathers.

You mean the same Founding Fathers who promoted the Doctrine of Manifest Destiny? Who wanted to expand American territory from sea to shining sea? Who conquered lands from the Indians and whose direct ancestors conquered Mexican controlled territory?

Yeah, they would have eagerly embraced a bunch of illiterate illegal aliens from Latin America crossing the border /s

We were discussing checks and balances. No single law and no single issue can be allowed to be higher in the list of American priorities than ensuring the stability of our checks and balances.

The ends do not justify the means.

i think the check's and balances so far have held very well and i also think that the system and politicians are treading very carefully with Trump least its accused of subverting democracy by victimising the concept of free elections. more carefully than they would have with a seasoned politician. Clinton nearly lost the presidency for getting his end wet and here we have Trump screwing porn stars and having nefarious dealings with the Russians just to get elected. i guess what I'm getting at is that at the end of the Trump era no one is gonna be able to say that Trump didn't get a fair crack at being POTUS. is it fair that Trump gets more of a benefit of the doubt than lets say either of the Clintons or even Bush?

In any country it is only the checks and balances that prevent the time restricted elected from becoming the unrestricted authority.

They have. My concern is how many voices like Lord Harry above does it take to convince an egomaniac that the people will support him regardless of the legality of his actions?

i think Trump is his own worse enemy and the people that took Trump over the line, the swing voters, will not be so quick to vote for him and the uncertainty that he brings to the country next time round. the Trump zealots must be in the minority these days or so it seems to me. Lord Harry might even become a collectors item in future generations.

I honestly think youre right on this, though its a little hard to see from deep red - pop a confederate flag on your truck after the 2016 election Trump country.

That said I think we'd be naive to think that the US is insulated from the growing global push towards totalitarianism Departing senators warn: There's a problem with the current state of politics

thanks for the link. its good to hear that everyone is looking at this political change without rose coloured glasses and being brutally honest, including the politicians themselves. the system is failing and the people are cynical. who can blame them. i feel the same too.

To be fair, it was amusing to hear Schumer talk about only 25 per cent approving Trump.

The 50 per cent that didn't care has yuuuge potential. Gary Johnson could've run a Brewster's Milllions campaign.

When it comes to the national self interest, in this case securing the borders and preventing illegal immigration, the ends certainly do justify the means.

Trump should use his executive authority to authorize the construction of a 40 ft high concrete border wall stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean, manned by 150,000 American troops with instructions to prevent illegal entry by any means necessary.

If funding is an issue there are always welfare and foreign aid programs to cut.

Democracy has failed. The three decade long political deadlock in this country has revealed this.

It is time for a different form of government, one in which the executive authority is able to enact public policy in accordance with the national self interest without being stymied by an entrenched deep state, unpatriotic political opposition, and corrupt special interests.
