You’ve hit onto one of Trump’s secrets.  The Progs focus on only “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”, thinking they have the upper hand.  But what Trump pays attention to is “But if you try sometimes you might find you get what you need”.  It is my belief that Trump only needs say $2 billion, not $5 billion, so he’ll trade insults with the Progs until they’ll come back with $2 billion or whatever it might be.  They’ll think they’ve won because he didn’t get the $5 billion, but he got what he needs.  All he needs is to begin to correct the metastasized mindset to get it on the right track, then the Progs will find it difficult to resist.  I really don’t think Trump wants a wall the entire length but he does want an aggressive border security to establish a base for comprehensive immigration policy.  Closing the border will block the illegal commerce and cheap labor and the voter pool for the Progs.  The Progs will have to start working for the American people and not try to replace them.

Trump already tried to cut a deal with the democrat’s asking instead for 2.5 billion and was turned down. With public opinion firmly with the democrat’s Trump will have to consider asking the Mexicans for a contribution or better yet start a gofundme page because no one the house is interested in his antics anymore.

Securing the borders and evicting these criminals is a sure way to improve his approval ratings. Any American who cares about his country and doesn't have a bleeding heart false sense of compassion for the undeserving will agree.

Unlike Trump, President Putin doesn't have to deal with an obstinate unpatriotic political opposition attempting to stymie his every move. Thus Putin has been able to enact most of his agenda without much opposition.

Trump on the other hand has to deal with such obstructions, and consequently has been unable to attain the pinnacle of his true potential as a leader.

We were discussing checks and balances. No single law and no single issue can be allowed to be higher in the list of American priorities than ensuring the stability of our checks and balances.

i think the check's and balances so far have held very well and i also think that the system and politicians are treading very carefully with Trump least its accused of subverting democracy by victimising the concept of free elections. more carefully than they would have with a seasoned politician. Clinton nearly lost the presidency for getting his end wet and here we have Trump screwing porn stars and having nefarious dealings with the Russians just to get elected. i guess what I'm getting at is that at the end of the Trump era no one is gonna be able to say that Trump didn't get a fair crack at being POTUS. is it fair that Trump gets more of a benefit of the doubt than lets say either of the Clintons or even Bush?

i think Trump is his own worse enemy and the people that took Trump over the line, the swing voters, will not be so quick to vote for him and the uncertainty that he brings to the country next time round. the Trump zealots must be in the minority these days or so it seems to me. thanks for the link. its good to hear that everyone is looking at this political change without rose coloured glasses and being brutally honest, including the politicians themselves. the system is failing and the people are cynical. who can blame them. i feel the same too.

To be fair, it was amusing to hear Schumer talk about only 25 per cent approving Trump.

When it comes to the national self interest, in this case securing the borders and preventing illegal immigration, the ends certainly do justify the means.

Trump should use his executive authority to authorize the construction of a 40 ft high concrete border wall stretching from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean, manned by 150,000 American troops with instructions to prevent illegal entry by any means necessary.

If funding is an issue there are always welfare and foreign aid programs to cut.
