According to a paper written by mathematician Nikolay Zak and supported by gerontologist Valery Novoselov, the real Jeanne Calment died in 1934 at the age of 59. The woman who achieved fame as history’s oldest person was actually her daughter Yvonne, who assumed her dead mother’s identity in order to dodge steep French inheritance taxes. “The phenomenon of Jeanne Calment could … be used as an example of the vulnerability of seemingly well-established facts,” it reads. They made a movie about her father called Papa's Delicate condition.Think that was the title. It starred Jackie Gleason. At some point, she got invovled in some sort of court action and denied she was Corriene Griffth. I'll have to look it up, but it was odd. In 1966, within a few days, she married and divorced her fourth husband, Broadway actor Danny Scholl (Call Me Mister). Scholl was 45, more than 25 years Griffith's junior. In court she testified that she was not Corinne Griffith. She claimed that she was the actress's younger (by twenty years) sister who had taken her place upon the famous sister's death.
