Not if her plan is to convince old Republicans who don't even believe in Climate Change to vote for her it's not. Luckily I don't think she cares much about that, and liberals - her target audience - absolutely bloody love her from everything I can see.

So maybe not as much of a damp squib as you might think. I guess it's all about perspective, and actually having some.

She can't convince most Democrats. Not even in her own state. Anyway, it seems like Biden is running now with Obama's backing.

Not a good one I mean... """ GOOD weapon " eh??!?!?!  well, she's catchy and if she keeps hitting the shows SNL[Saturday Night Live] / COMEDY CENTRAL or ELLEN on and on and on that's it, she'll be set, especially if that the guy I think it is shaking her hand.

Genuinely no offence intended here, because I like you, but why do you write sentences as though you're on the process of having a stroke? I try to read your posts but it's really, really difficult. I notice, when I spend the substantial extra time needed to decipher them, that I often agree with a lot of what you say, but generally I don't even bother.

It's not even a conscious decision. My brain just scans right past it as though it's an advert or something.

Yeah, Biden won't make it past the primaries. He's a terrible choice.

Can you just imagine Fox constantly running stories about him creeping out women with his wandering hands? That's all you'd hear, constantly through the whole campaign. He's also just more of the same - another Hillary, old guard guy, who thinks it's their turn. I think the Dems are trying to go in another direction (Beto-type candidate).

Her green initiatives is to cost $20 trillion. $4 trillion to be paid for by her "rich tax" (see how long that lasts) and the other $16 trillion is coming from... well, she doesn't seem to say!

You want this genius in charge of america?  ban all cars  - yeah, except the politicians' BMW's and limos. Ban all planes - yeah except airforce 1,2,3 and all the air transport pols want.

It's called socialism. gear up for it.

Personally, I see a lot of people getting over it already. Going as passe as everyone being a racist. That's what happens when you way overplay the same card. I'm not sure what FOX will do. You may not like moderate Democrats, but a lot of Democrats don't care about that.

Yeah, you should probably just keep giving the rich more tax breaks while the poor keep getting poorer. I'm sure that'll work out just great. You realise that the original 70% tax that she's basing her proposal on actually stimulated the economy greatly after WW2, which is what kick-started your great era of prosperity? Socialism? All taxes are socialism.

:D She said she plans to ban cars and planes did she? This is what Republicans have been saying? Maybe she's invented the double decker bike? :D

She's talking about moving from petrol to electricity, like, y'know, practically every country that cares about the devastating effects of climate change has plans to do. But you don't simply claim that this is extreme, you instead claim that she wants you guys to go all the way back to the horse and cart. What on earth.

And I don't know the specifics of her plan, other than it's intended as a non-binding roadmap rather than actual policy, but with the state of US infrastructure due to decades of neglect, you guys already need a major overhaul anyways, and climate change does need to be addressed.

This proposal doesn't mean she's an idiot. It just means she cares about the people who have to live on the planet now and when she's gone. It's also probably part publicity stunt, part asking your parents for 20 quid so you know you'll at least get a tenner.

I completely disagree. Dems won't look the other way at that behaviour in the way Republicans somehow managed to with Trump. Not enough of them and not in a Presidential election, at least.

I think you are wrong. There's a huge split in the party and the moderates are stepping up. They are not socialists and saying so.

She reminds me of that old saying, "Better to remain quiet and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt." Can we say "over exposure"? She's whats commonly known as a flash in the pan.

There's an old quote I can't quite remember so I'll paraphrase it:

Republicans vote for the party, Dems vote for the candidate.

That's the basic jist of it. It means that Dems (a significant portion of them, at least) don't just vote to keep their party in power or to keep the other guys out, they need to be won over by the actual candidate. While conservative voters will basically vote for anyone representing their party in order to keep Dems out of power.

Whether or not voting to keep Trump out of power will be enough for Dems to come out and vote for just anyone to the tune of the 70M Obama saw in his first election, I don't know. But I doubt their Party will want to test it in the next election.

All they use is the same old lines for the last couple of years. Now they use them on Democrats they don't like. They've accused Deval Patrick, Governor of Massachusetts. They've accused Lt Governor Justin Fairfax from Virginia. They accused the son of former Governor of Massachusetts A J Baker. Sounds like Republicans aren't alone.  These are big Democrats, near and dear to Obama and his financial supporters.

I'm not going to convince you and I won't try. If Dems don't like their candidate.......

Sage advice. I propose we make it the official conservative mantra :D

After a decade on here of watching people try to defend Bush and now Trump, I'd be willing to try anything to help out those poor souls.

Which is why Hillary Clinton got 95% of the super delegates assigned to her as soon as Clinton declared she was running. And none of them flipped when it looked like Bernie was making a real run of it.

Your quote is just some Dem passing along a nice sounding sound bite, but has no truth to it.

I read that several senior Dems, including, I think, Pete DeFazio from Oregon, told her to sit back and learn, and she went out the next day and started her pattern of Trumpian style statements.

They totally are going to choke chain her, or replace her in 2020.

Well, sure, put forward Beto, or Kamala, if you'd like to lose. Polls or the actual electorate, not just media pundits, shows Biden with much wider support then you are suggesting.

Real Clear Politics has it between Biden and Sanders at this point.

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2020/president/us/2020_democratic_presidential_nomination-6730.html

Both are over 10% ahead of everyone else. No one else is breaking 10% in the Average.

Current data says you're probably wrong. About Biden, and more importantly, the American people.

Not really. I have come to the opinion that there has been created a very comfortable "establishment" bubble that both Clinton dems and conservatives are living in that is keeping them from seeing the world evolving around them.  The demographics simply point to an America that is trending to the left.

Young People Really, Really Want a Green New Deal

Healthcare 69% of Millennials Support Medicare for All

Millennials projected to overtake Baby Boomers as America’s largest generation

I'll read the links, but what I remember from previous articles I read was that Millenials support these things, but do not want to pay for them. When told they would need to pay 30% to 50% of their earnings to taxes, support drops to below 30%.

I haven't easily found information that correlates Millenials and prices by poll %. The ones you posted are pretty representative, but are vague when taking about support of taxes for the initiatives. I can prove overall support drops due to cost, but not specifically regarding Millenials.

The third link says Millenials will not be a major power till 2032, which will be too later to empower the New Green Deal, as AOC said we'll likely all be dead by then.

How can you say that in light of the '16 election? Hillary was anointed by the party and the entire Democrat electorate was happy to pull the lever and Trump was an outsider who defeated the entirety of 16 Republican establishment hopefuls with ease. That couldn't be any more opposite of what you just said.
