It's incomprehensible. She wants billionaires to pay for her ideals yet doesn't want them to do their thing and thinks it's wrong that they can even exist.

Remember the Whig party?

In a couple of decades neither will anyone remember the Democrat party.

You know what is messed up? Taxpayers forking over billions of dollars to a private corporation to entice that corporation to build and create jobs there, while that corporation is known for using tax loopholes to pay little to no taxes. This is what I will never understand about todays so called conservatives, you are perfectly happy subsidizing mulit-billion dollar corporations that pay very little in tax and don't need any subsidy that will employ a relatively small amount of people, but yet if someone talks about subsidizing the middle class who actually would spend that money in the local community and really need it, you lose your mind.

This is what is known as corporatism, defined as socialism for corporations, paid for by us all. Why are you okay with corporate socialism? Why should taxpayers pay for such things that benefit very few ultimately?

They bring so much into the economy though not to mention the opportunities they bring that litterally anyone can take advantage of. People make very lucrative livings hosting their own amazon stores plus their gigantic library of inventory and available to affiliate marketers.

I live in Wisconsin and Scott Walker did the same sort of thing. He forked over billions of taxpayer dollars to Foxconn with Foxconn basically merely promising to build a big factory here and create a bunch of jobs. But when you actually do the math, taxpayers are losing big time on that deal.

Why are big billion dollar corporations worthy of taxpayer money that they don't need, but the taxpayers themselves who actually work and have families and spend in the local economy are not? What gives? Why do you think this is okay?

That is the theory, but often this just doesn't actually play out this way.

It is like these corporations have convinced you this is true, and no matter what the evidence says that is to the contrary, you just keep drinking the kool-aid

You don't trust the government, why do you trust these big corporations who wield power on par with governments? We ought to be smarter, we are being taken for fools you know.

And just let me pose this to you, ignore everything I said before and answer me this-

In a capitalist society, why are we giving subsidies at all to businesses? Shouldn't businesses decide on where they want to build and create jobs based on the economic conditions, the talent, and the resources of the area? In a capitalist society, taxpayer/government money should not be up for grabs like this. In a free market society, the market should determine these things should it not? So why are you okay with this? This is not capitalist, this is government interfering with the marketplace.

So a quick read says to me that Foxconn looks like a bad deal with a checkered company losing sight of its direction.

But the idea of tax incentives is that these big businesses generate enough jobs and exonomic stimulus to warrant it. Yes it looks like and kind of is a bribe but they can go anywhere they want and they'll go wherever they get the best deal.

I guess, I'm going to bed.

Mobile capital will move to where it thrives best. If you tax mobile capital it moves and the salaries disappear.

No salaries equals no income tax.

Then you need away to attract mobile capital back.

I get that, but if you took away these taxpayer funded incentives. The 'mobile capital' would move to where resources, talent, and geography made the most sense.

This would be free market capitalism.

By subsidizing and incentivizing 'mobile capital' you are just taking hard earned taxpayer money and giving it away to privately owned corporations to intice them to move into an area that they otherwise would not move to, for if they would have, no incentives would be needed. Seems to me that publicly funded govt are bribing the private industry. That is not free market capitalism, no matter how you spin it.

I know that this is happening. But I don't accept that it has to happen this way.

We are smarter than this, I know we are, we can do this, we can fight the power and take back our country. We just need to see it.

I admire your optimism. As for me, I see any hope of victory as more as a mobilization effort rather than an attempt of winning people over to the cause. The nation is too polarized, and to be a conservative in today's world is to be a radical, brainwashed by Fox News or Alex Jones, etc.

It's an uphill battle and may take some time, but slowly but surely I believe we'll get to where we need to be.

Something FAR bigger is ingrained AK in the current "American way" of left/right BS that sometimes you and others sometimes give a "peek" into...but ya'll stop at that.

Hell i'm not attacking anybody, and for that matter few will listen anyway...

I know your personal stances very clear,i know the old school Dems stances very clear,I know the old school Republicans stances very clear,I know "somewhat" the Trump Republicans stances pretty clear...and i know my own VERY clear lol

To be a straight up "Democrat" and all those who identify as so is exactly the same!...

Even the most miniscule differences between stances nowadays, has become hardline stances and labels to which...i dunno...

The great dividing started awhile back, and is beyond the halfway point now...where we wind up,nobody knows...but we must choose wisely now,we've reached the breaking point...we've pushed it to the limit!

This is bigger than us this point in time, this has been decades in the making...

eta

Sounds like i'm trying to be "smart" or cryptic...hell i'm not THAT smart lol, just saying...

Let's not run away pointing fingers, when our thumbs are pointing right back at us...

We got big problems dude!

I was listen to the radio on way to work. I think it was a former Border Patrol chief talking. And his point wasn't that a wall prevents anything, but it slows them down. So those people watching can catch them, or chase them off.

Another point was that if they are on THAT side of the wall they do not have Constitutional protections, but as soon as they climb over, or dig under, they are protected. Putting a wall, or fence, establishes where those protections begin, or are denied.

Because we have freedom of belief in this nation. And so some people believe in Socialism, and even Communism, and they get to vote. Eventually socialists get elected, and eventually socialist programs/laws are enacted.

Basically we give money to business, due to socialism trying to keep markets stable.

Not only that, but the CBO says even if we did tax the 1% at 70%, it isn't going to pay even 50% of Medicare for All, or the Green New Deal, much less both.

Could we tax the rich more? Sure. Is it going to solve a single problem, other then make some graphs look less... "inequal"? Nope.
