+susieice Posted January 16, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2019 A 4.7 earthquake was recorded about 130 miles off the coast of Maryland at @6:30 this evening. No tsunami activity has been issued. No damage is expected to be found on land. I didn't feel anything. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2019/01/15/ocean-city-earthquake-off-maryland-coast/2588016002/ 2
Piney Posted January 16, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2019 Maybe stress cracks in the crust from this booger. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chesapeake_Bay_impact_crater 2
+Not A Rockstar Posted January 16, 2019 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2019 Ugh. I had a screwy dream about tremors in the Ohio River basin and Indiana the other night. Hate it when the old brain throws out oddling dreams I cannot account for.

Doc Socks Junior Posted January 23, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 23, 2019 Huh, so a minor oblique...reverse fault solution? I'd guess the NE-trending fault solution is right based on Zoback and Zoback (1989). Sure, it's a 30 year old paper, but it's not like the stress regime is going to have changed in 30 years. Broad mid-plate compression. Neat. M 4.6 is fairly good-sized.
