I have no vested interest in Maduro, no. The fact you ask this question continues a certain pattern this thread has provided very clearly. Which is if one goes against the popular / mainstream narrative - be it in regards to Russia, Syria, Iran, Islam or Venezuela - the 'believers' of said mainstream narrative immediately pose youre a supporter of such an 'enemy' (instead of simply not adhering or standing critical to the hyped story). Spurring on the usual intellectual gems like "If you dont like it here, why dont you go live there?!" The irony here is, its very plausible thesame that strive for this coup are thesame who we have been raging about.. the socalled swamp Trump is going to save us from; unconstitutional corporate control over federal government policies.

Do you support economic warfare, military intervention, regime change interventionalist policies against any nation that poses a strategical threat or advantage (like the largest oil fields in the world); as well as heavy perception management aka sheer propaganda - misinformation - to rationalise such policies for the masses? Do you believe the US efforts are mainly or even partly aimed at helping the Venezuelan People?

The dire state of Venezuela's economy is being blamed on Maduro, and this is a(nother) grave simplification of reality, like so many other popular geo political narratives today. Such efforts / examples of US fuelled regime change are absolutely myriad (including but certainly not limited to South America), and they have never - nor will they ever be in anyones interest besides the US / Western powerplayers and the corporations they are representing. Its all good and well for us to support these illegal actions and deceit now, as we dont seem to care about the truth while being able to live our comfortable lives unabated. Some day though, these same elements will continue to close the net around us, to such an extent that our lives will be increasingly impacted. Only then will those who seem so apathetic now start to act up for being mistreated, manipulated, controlled.. but by then it will be too late; and we will deserve everything we get (for accepting their lies as well as supporting them as long as the target wasnt us).

Hope its not too much text, I know thats impopular 'round here.. if so; apologies.

The Making of Juan Guaidó: US Regime-Change Laboratory Created Venezuela’s Coup Leader

[..]

Targeting ‘Troika of Tyranny’

Since the 1998 election of Hugo Chavez, the United States has fought to restore control over Venezuela and is vast oil reserves. Chavez’s socialist programs may have redistributed the country’s wealth and helped lift millions out of poverty, but they also earned him a target on his back. In 2002, Venezuela’s right-wing opposition briefly ousted him with U.S. support and recognition, before the military restored his presidency following a mass popular mobilization. Throughout the administrations of U.S. Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, Chavez survived numerous assassination plots before succumbing to cancer in 2013. His successor, Nicolás Maduro, has survived three attempts on his life.

The Trump administration immediately elevated Venezuela to the top of Washington’s regime change target list, branding it the leader of a “troika of tyranny. Last year, Trump’s national security team attempted to recruit members of the military brass to mount a military junta, but that effort failed. According to the Venezuelan government, the U.S. was also involved in a plot codenamed Operation Constitution to capture Maduro at the Miraflores presidential palace, and another called Operation Armageddon to assassinate him at a military parade in July 2017. Just over a year later, exiled opposition leaders tried and failed to kill Maduro with drone bombs during a military parade in Caracas.

More than a decade before these intrigues, a group of right-wing opposition students were hand selected and groomed by an elite, U.S.-funded regime change training academy to topple Venezuela’s government and restore the neoliberal order.

Training for Insurrection

On Oct. 5, 2005, with Chavez’s popularity at its peak and his government planning sweeping socialist programs, five Venezuelan “student leaders” arrived in Belgrade, Serbia to begin training for an insurrection.

The students had arrived from Venezuela courtesy of the Center for Applied Non-Violent Action and Strategies, or CANVAS. This group is funded largely through the National Endowment for Democracy, a CIA cut-out that functions as the U.S. government’s main arm of promoting regime change; and offshoots like the International Republican Institute and the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs. According to leaked internal emails from Stratfor, an intelligence firm known as the “shadow CIA,” “[CANVAS] may have also received CIA funding and training during the 1999/2000 anti-Milosevic struggle.”

CANVAS is a spinoff of Otpor, a Serbian protest group founded by Srdja Popovic in 1998 at the University of Belgrade. Otpor, which means “resistance” in Serbian, was the student group that gained international fame – and Hollywood-level promotion – by mobilizing the protests that eventually toppled Slobodan Milosevic. This small cell of regime change specialists was operating according to the theories of the late Gene Sharp, the “Clausewitz of non-violent struggle.” Sharp had worked with a former Defense Intelligence Agency analyst, Col. Robert Helvey, to conceive a strategic blueprint that weaponized protest as a form of hybrid warfare, aiming it at states that resisted Washington’s unipolar domination.

VenRepub5a2ba7b3-b1c4-4302-ae6c-1a2f0b9a

Otpor at the 1998 MTV Europe Music Awards (Brian Rasic)

While monitoring the CANVAS training program, Stratfor outlined its insurrectionist agenda in strikingly blunt language: “Success is by no means guaranteed, and student movements are only at the beginning of what could be a years-long effort to trigger a revolution in Venezuela, but the trainers themselves are the people who cut their teeth on the ‘Butcher of the Balkans.’ They’ve got mad skills. When you see students at five Venezuelan universities hold simultaneous demonstrations, you will know that the training is over and the real work has begun.”

Generation 2007

The “real work” began two years later, in 2007, when Guaidó graduated from Andrés Bello Catholic University of Caracas. He moved to Washington, D.C., to enroll in the governance and political management program at George Washington University under the tutelage of Venezuelan economist Luis Enrique Berrizbeitia, one of the top Latin American neoliberal economists. Berrizbeitia is a former executive director of the International Monetary Fund who spent more than a decade working in the Venezuelan energy sector under the oligarchic old regime that was ousted by Chavez.

That year, Guaidó helped lead anti-government rallies after the Venezuelan government declined to renew the license of Radio Caracas Televisión (RCTV). This privately-owned station played a leading role in the 2002 coup against Hugo Chavez. RCTV helped mobilize anti-government demonstrators, falsified information blaming government supporters for acts of violence carried out by opposition members, and banned pro-government reporting amid the coup. The role of RCTV and other oligarch-owned stations in driving the failed coup attempt was chronicled in the acclaimed documentary, “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.”

I do support change Maduro is unfit to be president, he can't lead and from day one he was always going to struggle to replicate Chavez. Theres no easy way to sort this out, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a war with the US, they have been at it since Chaves came to power.

The problem with Maduro he trusts the military 100%, it's the only the thing he is still in power, he never cared about the people, he always goes to military bases and does speeches about defending the homeland. If he does go out he's surrounded by military people and militias not the people.

Imo I think the FANB are bound to the constitution and not the president, the only reason they are aiding with him is money and fear.

Iran, Russia are never really interested about the people, the only worry about the current deals with Maduro, and if regime does change in favour of a pro west leadership, they will lose out.

Part of it is about oil, everyone wants it and from all sides, if Russia truly believed in Venezuela they would have done a lot more than just giving loans out and sending bombers.

Nobody would seem 'fit to be president' when economic warfare and massive subversive elements strive to destablize the nation. Its a recipe for any head of state to become entrenched in a multifacetted internal conflict spiralling the nation into chaos. Fact remains, the brunt of the Venezuelan People supported the socialist revolution started by Chavez (ie. nationalizing oil production, striving to balance wealth distribution, increase the income of the poor) - against whom the very same tactics were used during the coup attempt in 2002 - and thus democratically elected Maduro in 2013 because Chavez endorsed him.

I ask you again; do you believe the US is in it to relieve the Venezuelans from their dire state, in any shape or form? If Maduro is seen as unfit by the Venezuelan people, he will never retain his position for long. Any leader who loses the support of the people will eventually fall, no outside 'help' would be needed, especially if its disingenious. This goes for Assad, Putin, as well as Maduro. There is a good reason Maduro is protected, as numerous attempts on his life have been made by the opposition.

And if 'not caring about the people' is a reason for intervention, I guess 'a coalition of the willing' should immediately engage in economic and military warfare against the USA on account of Donald J Trump (who btw got elected by way of gerrymandering, in case you imply Maduro wasnt elected democratically in 2013).

Lastly, besides the malicious tactics being used against this administration by foreign elements - the very travesty the whole of the USA has been in turmoil over the past few years in regards to a few Russian tweets for godsake - as well as the foreign grooming background of the new Venezuelan savior, you seem to pose this Guaido is somehow fit to be president, obviously completely ignoring the content I posted.. Based on what exactly? I know one thing, if the US would be in this situation after years and years of destabilization efforts by foreign powers, and such a foreign groomed and backed savior is presented, he would be hung in the streets. And rightly so. The only reason Americans so easily support these tactics is because they are apathetic to Venezuela, and they wont take any effort to critically regard the official narrative. Like so many other geo political events in the not so distant past, they just dont care enough (as well as being completely controlled by identity politics, where facts dont matter anymore). This is why the USA has become one of the main destabilizing, warmongering factors on the geo political chessboard today.

Oh dont worry theres a big chance I will, I like to travel a lot to gain a balanced view of the world and Russia is still on the bucket list. My favorite as of yet is Indo China, but Russia is fascinating as well.. although I dispize the sort of Russians that frequent the more popular tourist spots.. luckily I have enough nuance (theres that word again) to know this doesnt mean Russians in general wield thesame profile.

But I must say, Im increasingly curious as to what sort of arrested development, educational black hole you seem to hail from..

The level of unadulterated hypocricy at play when claiming 'a starving nation' and 'dictatorship' demands (yet another) intervention, while at thesame time supporting, arming and defending dictators to bomb, shell and starve millions of Yemeni civilians..

The convenient, lethargic, self centred hypocricy needed to reconcile these slanted, toxic narratives in a larger context is just mindshattering. I can only hope those that exemplify this behaviour will someday be on the receiving end, suffer thesame as their unthoughtful support for criminal acts has done to others.

lamo, your repeated pathetic attempts at insulting me fail every time, they actually entertain me,  i look at  what life i build for me and my family, look at their happy faces, seeing them never worry about finances,  have absolute freedom to do anything and go anywhere.  and i actually feel sorry for you, a little bit, as much as i feel sorry for stray cats in a cold weather,.

btw i took psychology 101, and i've learned, that when people throw accusations at you in anger more often than not those are based on their own insecurities and failures, .  go ahead, talk more sht , you only make me laugh harder.

Killing Hope

U.S. Military and CIA Interventions Since World War II

Is the United States a force for democracy? In this classic and unique volume that answers this question, William Blum serves up a forensic overview of U.S. foreign policy spanning sixty years. For those who want the details on our most famous actions (Chile, Cuba, Vietnam, to name a few), and for those who want to learn about our lesser-known efforts (France, China, Bolivia, Brazil, for example), this book provides a window on what our foreign policy goals really are.

If you flip over the rock of American foreign policy of the past century, this is what crawls out… invasions … bombings … overthrowing governments … occupations … suppressing movements for social change … assassinating political leaders … perverting elections … manipulating labor unions … manufacturing “news” … death squads … torture … biological warfare … depleted uranium … drug trafficking … mercenaries …

It’s not a pretty picture. It’s enough to give imperialism a bad name.

Read the full details in: Killing Hope: US Military and CIA Interventions Since World War II.

“Far and away the best book on the topic.” – Noam Chomsky

“I enjoyed it immensely.” – Gore Vidal

“I bought several more copies to circulate to friends with the hope of shedding new light and understanding on their political outlooks.” – Oliver Stone

“A very valuable book. The research and organization are extremely impressive.” – A. J. Langguth, author, former New York Times Bureau Chief

“A very useful piece of work, daunting in scope, important.” –Thomas Powers, author, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist

“Each chapter I read made me more and more angry.” – Dr. Helen Caldicott, international leader of the anti-nuclear and environmental movements

WikiLeaks Reveals US Military Use Of IMF, World Bank As "Unconventional" Weapons

In a leaked military manual on “unconventional warfare” recently highlighted by WikiLeaks, the U.S. Army states that major global financial institutions — such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) — are used as unconventional, financial “weapons in times of conflict up to and including large-scale general war,” as well as in leveraging “the policies and cooperation of state governments.”

The document, officially titled “Field Manual (FM) 3-05.130, Army Special Operations Forces Unconventional Warfare” and originally written in September 2008, was recently highlighted by WikiLeaks on Twitter in light of recent events in Venezuela as well as the years-long, U.S.-led economic siege of that country through sanctions and other means of economic warfare. Though the document has generated new interest in recent days, it had originally been released by WikiLeaks in December 2008 and has been described as the military’s “regime change handbook.”

What's happening with Venezuela? @WikiLeaks' publication of US coup manual FM3-05.130, Unconventional Warfare [UW], provides insight

I often find talking to the far left to be a strange experience.

Apparently if I`m against immigration I`m a bigot. If I like and benefit from capitalism then I`m greedy and corrupt. If I believe in God then I`m uneducated. And now apparently if I like Trump then I have been brain washed by Russian propaganda.

Where do these people get off?

10 Reasons The Gilets-Jeunes (Yellow Vests) Are The Real Deal

Here are ten reasons the Gilets Jaunes (unlike US sponsored colour revolutions) are the real deal, by which I mean the direct expression of the people of France.

1. They don’t speak in Abstractions/idealisms

2. The mainstream media blackout

3. The Red Scarfs (in themselves they are of little import, their numbers were exaggerated and being entirely a rent a crowd they lack stamina. On a deeper level however, the appearance of the Red Scarfs represents a very dangerous game by Macron)

4. The lack of celebrities or leaders

5. The manner in which the globalisers have no response but violence

6. The confusion among intellectuals

7. The disappearance of right-wing groups from the street

8. The presence of many poor baby boomers and retirees

9. The nightly MSM news is not crossing live to Washington for expert analysis.

10. There are neither left nor right This is often commented on adversely as if it was a failing. Nothing answers this better than this Facebook post on a Gilets site:

Look at Jupiter’s face! He doesn’t know what to do. He tried racism, immigration, bludgeoning, thugs, injuries, police violence, prison, smoking, repression, lie and we’re still out there!!!!! So we drop nothing and keep going All together without leaving anyone on the side. It’s not easy. We’re all different with different ideas, but we have a common goal, We’re a lot then in a big family we fight but we meet every week, Saturday, Sunday, night, all when we can and forget our differences.”

Diversity is one of neo-Liberalism’s keywords, yet in thinking about such terms we should also recall Nietzsche’s axiom that things are only spoken about when they are disappearing. Here, however, in the Gilets, we have an example of true diversity, different in every way from the standard Neo-Liberal usage bombarding us every day.

Comments per point available in the link, didnt want to add too much text..

These obervations generally do seem to ring true (concerning the supposedly 'fake movements').. Which is why I find this pretty interesting, especially given it seems as though I was painted a wholly lacking, highly negative picture of this latest movement (which happens sometimes when you havent had the time nor interest to delve into the particular subject). The red part is impressive even. Next question is though, are the claims true in regards to the yellow vests?

That would be (mainly) 'media'.. thats where they get off. Identity politics ('your side is good/right, the other is bad/wrong'), propaganda, fake news.. Also, lacking education.

Who's the far- left here, you mean me?

Apparently if I`m against immigration I`m a bigot. If I like and benefit from capitalism then I`m greedy and corrupt. If I believe in God then I`m uneducated. And now apparently if I like Trump then I have been brain washed by Russian propaganda.

Where do these people get off?

We live in strange times, Russia is what the left used to aspire to now most hate it, they oppose free speech and try to shut it down if it's of an oppinion differing to their own, they hate Jews, many dress in black and cover their faces, beat up anyone with a different view, they'd fit nicely into 1930s Germany.

Empire of Chaos

The United States' empire was at its peak following World War II. America ruled the globe economically and militarily. It's influence was ubiquitous and its soft power seemingly unlimited. But, arrogance and greed transformed the United States into a pariah. We are feared for our power, but no longer respected for our institutions. Inequality, injustice, corruption, hypocrisy, betrayal and violence, have turned much of the world against us. Sanctions, structural-adjustment, economic warfare. Coups, regime change, color revolutions. 'Responsibility-2-protect', 'coalitions-of-the-willing'. Counter-insurgencies, assassinations. Weapons trade, drug trafficking. Napalm, cluster bombs, landmines, depleted uranium, chemical and biological weapons. This destructive legacy has resulted in the suffering and death of millions, so that American corporations and banks can expand their markets and reap enormous profits, while the United States military achieves strategic global hegemony. As the United States continues to demonstrate how easily it can manipulate elections, exploit popular unrest and undermine economies around the world, many developing nations are concluding that less freedom and more authoritarianism may be their best option to withstand the 21st century 'realpolitik' of U.S. 'democracy promotion'. And, while U.S. financial and military aggression escalates in reaction to America's economic, societal and democratic decline, the global chaos that results may leave millons in misery and a world in ruins.

The 'Indispensible Nation'

"If we have to use force, it is because we are America; we are the indispensible nation."
U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright (1998)

"Since World War Two the United States has attempted to overthrow more than fifty foreign governments, it has dropped bombs on the people of around thirty countries, has attempted to assassinate some sixty foreign leaders, helped to suppress dozens of populist or nationalist movements, has tortured many thousands, and seriously and illegally intervened in one way or another in virtually every country on the planet, in the process of which the U.S. has caused the end of life for several million people, and condemned many millions more to a life of agony and despair." William Blum, in a speech at the University of Vermont, 2007

"Coming to grips with U.S./CIA activities in broad numbers and figuring out how many people have been killed in the jungles of Laos or the hills of Nicaragua is very difficult. But, adding them up as best we can, we come up with a figure of six million people killed-and this is a minimum figure. Included are: one million killed in the Korean War, two million killed in the Vietnam War, 800,000 killed in Indonesia, one million in Cambodia, 20,000 killed in Angola ... and 22,000 killed in Nicaragua. These people would not have died if U.S. tax dollars had not been spent by the CIA to inflame tensions, finance covert political and military activities and destabilize societies." John Stockwell, CIA official in the 1960s and 1970s

"The US spends almost half of all the military spending in the entire world, equal to virtually all the other countries combined. More than half of the weapons sold in the world are sold by the United States. The US has more than 700 military bases scattered across dozens of countries. The US is the world's leading trainer of paramilitaries. The US has a series of courses, from interrogators to generals, that have graduated military people guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity in dozens upon dozens of countries. The US has a series of covert paramilitary forces of its own that get almost no attention. This is the U.S. military machine. In addition, there's the support for repressive non-democratic governments and for governments that commit aggression. There are about forty of them that the US backs." journalist Allan Nairn, 2010

"We are not hated because we practice democracy, value freedom, or uphold human rights. We are hated because our government denies these things to people in Third World countries whose resources are coveted by our multinational corporations." Robert Bowman, Vietnam Veteran

"The crimes of the United States have been systematic, constant, vicious, remorseless, but very few people have actually talked about them. You have to hand it to America. It has exercised a cynical manipulation of power worldwide while masquerading as a force for universal good. It's a brilliant, even witty, highly successful act of hypnosis."British playwright Harold Pinter, 2005 Nobel Lecture

"New military bases have been built since 9/11 in Poland, Lithuania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar and Bahrain. The US military has 737 bases in 63 countries according to the 2005 Base Structure Report, but the actual number probably exceeds 1,000." Eric Walberg, 2011

"The real motivation behind US military interventions during the cold war was not Soviet deterrence, but the crushing of popular, indigenous nationalist movements for independence, and the establishment of US control over strategic regions." Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed in his book "Behind the War on Terror"

"It is the function of the CIA to keep the world unstable, and to propagandize and teach the American people to hate, so we will let the Establishment spend any amount of money on arms."
John Stockwell, CIA official in the 1960s and 1970s

"This is a very hard choice, but we think the price is worth it."
U.S. Ambassador to the UN Madeleine Albright on "60 Minutes" (1996), when she was asked whether she considered the deaths of half a million Iraqi children as the result of U.S. sanctions - 'acceptable'

"Do American leaders really believe the utterances that emanate from their mouths? When the words "god" and "prayer" are regularly invoked in their talks, while American Hellfire missiles are sent screaming into a city center or a village marketplace teeming with life ...when they carry on endlessly about democracy and freedom, while American soldiers are smashing down doors, dragging off the men, humiliating the women, traumatizing the children. When they proclaim the liberation of a people and the bringing forth of a better life, while vast quantities of American depleted uranium are exploding into a fine vapor which will poison the air, the soil, the blood, and the genes forever." William Blum

"Almost from the beginning, the CIA engaged not only in the collection of intelligence information, but also in covert operations which involved rigging elections and manipulating labor unions abroad, carrying on paramilitary operations, overturning governments, assassinating foreign officials, protecting former Nazis and lying to Congress." former Senator George McGovern, 1987

..The only way to reconcile reality with the image of the USA as 'a force of good in the world', seeder of democracy, peace and freedom.. is unadulterated, full blown, multifaceted, multisourced propaganda (aka 'marketing', by way of the massive US media sphere of influence).

And yes, these tactics have been (partly) employed, and will be (potentially) employed by perceived and/or real enemies, this has very little bearing on the fact these crimes are committed on an empire scale (which trumps any other political entity on the face of 21st century earth) under the guise of a seemingly unwavering 'good guy' image. Allthewhile passionately implicating and admonishing 'the others' for doing what the US herself has turned into an art, the height of hypocrisy.

'God bless the United States of America (..and Israel)', protecting the world from (non- Western) evil. :D

Irony is, as stated earlier, those that defend / rationalise these crimes ('needed in a highly dangerous world full of foreign threats! It would be naive to think these travesties tactics arent necessary' - no matter thesame policies create more threats more often than not) because they are committed by 'their team', their nation, 'their people', might very well be defending the very entities which for all intents and purposes constitute the most direct threat to them and theirs. Not Russia, not China, not Migrants, not Muslims, not Syrians or Iranians, not Liberals or Alt Righters, not Republicans or Democrats, not Blacks or Hispanics, not Socialists or Capitalists, but the corporations wielding unconstitutional control over their ruling bodies of government, and the corrupt self serving political elite they keep electing, hoping for Change..

So given this thread has effectively died down this pretty much wraps up this particular testcase, Id like to thank all who participated for their input, it has been extremely insightful.

I just hope these results do not represent, or even approach the median of the population's general opinion in this context.

The thing I love about people like the OP, and threads like these is that for some reason...They always only deal with Russia. The country which Intelligence Services globally point out as the master of online campaigns. Digital maskirovkas if you will. You won't get people like the OP going. "Well why are people so mean and dishonest about China?!"

Only Putin and Russia. Wonder why? *shrugs*

Allright, two things:

- you obviously didnt actually read this thread, seeded with non- Russia related posts focussing on Western propaganda as a whole;

- you obviously are unaware about my forum history.

..You know the thing I love about people like you, immediately trying to put me in the Russian Stooge category; is that the content of your posts and others like you never - and I do mean never - touch upon actual content I provided, but always consist of shallow attempts at ad hominems / character assassination or meaningless / comical disqualifications of the sources used.

Funny that.

Content for you:

If the Russians are so innocent and the victims of a set up, why do you think they tried to hack the OPCW?
