Eldorado Posted January 23, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2019 Greenland’s enormous ice sheet is melting at such an accelerated rate that it may have reached a “tipping point” and could become a major factor in sea-level rise around the world within two decades, scientists said in a study published on Monday. Doug1029 Posted January 23, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2019 It is probably too late to stop the meltoff of the Greenland ice sheet. That, plus the melt-off of temperate zone glaciers will raise sea levels by something like 22 feet. "Adapting" to this will require either an awful lot of engineering, or abandoning vast coastal areas to the sea. The do-nothing-because-it-is-too-expensive approach is about to get a lot more expensive. Doug
