Popular Post glorybebe Posted January 23, 2019 Popular Post #1 Share Posted January 23, 2019 Several people around the world have captured an event that is rarely witnessed: a meteoroid slamming into the moon. The total lunar eclipse was enjoyed by people across Canada, some enduring chilly winter temperatures to catch what became known across social media as the "super blood wolf moon." https://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/lunar-eclipse-impact-1.4989314 So cool! 8
+and-then Posted January 23, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2019 If we had a human presence there daily, I guess being killed by a random strike like that would be similar to being struck by lightning here. The odds would be longer though, I guess.
glorybebe Posted January 23, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted January 23, 2019 From what I have read, humans would need to live underground there for protection from space debris.

The odds would be longer though, I guess. People get struck by lightning, because they provide it with a shorter path between the cloud and the ground, than the surroundings. So the lightning is actually attracted to us, under the right circumstances. If you find yourself in the middle of a thunderstorm, you can avoid getting hit, simply by laying down, or surrounding yourself with buildings or trees. Meteoroids act more like bullets or grenades. Once they have a path, it takes a lot to change it. But like you said, they are rare. Edited January 23, 2019 by sci-nerd
