Middle East under the Romans

Antioch

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I am writing an assignment in Middle East under the Roman Empire. Since the topic is so big, I need help with what my research question should be. I was thinking to write about Palmyra or the Jewish Revolt, but I don't know. Do you have any suggestions for good research questions? :D

Well, what are your interests in the time and place?

And are we talking high school? Undergraduate? Post-graduate?

But if you're after suggestions, and you have an interest in Palmyra, how about something discussing women and political power, say, from Cleopatra to Theodora, via Zenobia?

It's undergraduate.

You should chat with your history professor.

Which academic field are you studying?

What about 'How did the Roman Empire transform Palmyra'?

It is difficult to give suggestions without knowing the field you are studying.

Hi Mellon Man

Good point and for me, I have to ask what is the point of a profession if IF ONE IS NOT INTERESTED ENOUGH TO HAVE QUESTIONS OF THEIR OWN THAT THEY WISH TO TO ANSWER WHY DID THEY PURSUE THAT PROFESSION? Sorry about the cap locks wasn't yelling but rum does sumpin to da keyboard.

I agree with this one.  Without some guidance, you're more likely to pick a topic that's too big or too small and this will hamper your research.  The professor (or their assistants) can also point you to recommended resources.
