"Former first minister Alex Salmond is set to appear in court later on Wednesday accused of offences against ten women, including attempted rape and a series of sexual assaults.

"The procedural hearing at the High Court in Edinburgh follows a previous court appearance in November, when he denied all 14 charges.

"A trial date has been set for March."

Weren't there rumours a while back?  And didn't they relate to events that supposedly happened a long time ago?

As in "oh, I just remember, I was kissed at a Christmas party 35 years ago and I've just realised the bloke who kissed me is now famous.  And he never asked my permission for that drunken snog!!!!!!   So it must be a serious sexual assault.  I'd better call the Daily Mail and sell my story ...."

Thats a lot of allegations. Of course innocent until proven guilty. Does it say how many alleged victims?

Ten women

"Mr Salmond denies all 14 charges against him, which include one attempted rape and one intent to rape.

"He is also accused of 10 sexual assaults and two indecent assaults."  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-51206284

Sturgeon should be accused of rabid racialism ,as she hates the English more than Wallace or Bruce ever did although it is said that her Grandmother lives in Newcastle England.

I am concerned about people making up historical assault claims for various reasons or personal gain.

However would 10 women really get together and conspire this?

Possible but unlikely in my opinion.

Alex Salmond complaints were 'encouraged' claims Conservative MP

Conservative MP David Davis has used parliamentary privilege to criticise the Scottish government's handling of allegations against Alex Salmond.

The former minister told MPs during a Commons debate that there had been a "concerted effort" by SNP officials to encourage complainers to come forward.

Mr Davis also suggested Scottish government officials knew earlier than previously acknowledged of the claims.

@Eldorado were all relying on you, - as the Governing party of your nation is imploding, where are the updates? your spending far to much time on trifling MSM stories.

The Salmond inquiry as concluded Nicola Sturgeon misled (ie: lied) to the Scottish Parliament.

Nicola Sturgeon “stands by every word of her evidence” to the Holyrood inquiry investigating the Scottish Government’s botched handling of sexual harassment complaints against Alex Salmond.

A spokesperson for the First Minister said the committee had “resorted to baseless assertion, supposition and smear” after a leak suggested members found it “hard to believe” she did not previously know about alleged inappropriate behaviour by Salmond

Scotland’s former finance secretary has resigned from the SNP after he was suspended from the party over messages he sent to a teenage boy.

Derek Mackay resigned as finance secretary hours before he was due to deliver the Scottish budget on February 6 last year following reports he sent hundreds of messages to a 16-year-old boy on social media.

Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross replied to the report’s findings by suggesting the First Minister is “not free and clear”.

He also confirmed the party’s vote of no confidence will still go ahead.

Mr Ross said: “The First Minister has been given a pass because it has been judged her ‘failure of recollection’ was ‘not deliberate’.

“I respect Mr Hamilton and his judgment but we cannot agree with that assessment. Nicola Sturgeon did not suddenly turn forgetful."

I hope not.  The country is getting worse.  More drug deaths, homeless folk & winos sleeping on the streets, education standards falling, high street shops boarded-up, hospital and care homes always under investigation.  The place is messed-up but all they can shout about is independence.

I cannot see it doing the SNP any good come the election if she is still there.

Polling shows a definite down turn for her and an indyref, a relatively small shift in voter intention could remove an SNP hold on Scottish parliament and there is only about 6 weeks to go.

Plus Sturgeon still needs to show how joining the EU, who want to kill off scots by stopping their vaccine supply, is a good idea.

Alex Salmond is to take fresh legal action over the conduct of the Scottish government's top civil servant.

The former first minister said Permanent Secretary Leslie Evans had failed to take responsibility for the botched handling of harassment complaints against him.

He said he had instructed his lawyers to bring proceedings in the Court of Session.

Mr Salmond previously won a judicial review case against the government.
